Broadly compatible with Windows including 64 bit and server systems, the modem uses the CPU of the host computer for high compression throughput due to direct parallel access. Features include ring detection and qualification - eliminating unintended wake-on-ring events due to activity on the phone line other than ringing, as well as handling pulse dial control to eliminate system timing dependencies common with soft modems. The USRobotics USB Softmodem is fully compatible with V.92 and lower rates, making it ideal for compact POS solutions that only require V.34.

    Small and functional

    Overall the product works well with windows " fax and scan". Windows did detect the modem and installed all necessary drivers. My only problem is there was no instructions on how to actually set up before using it. I had to do some internet searching and finally found a site that had a video which showed step by step and this made "set up" fairly simple...

    I run a small business. Use fax a lot. Had so many problems with clumsy external faxes. Decided to buy a soft modem. Have read many reviews and decided to go for this model US Robotics USR 5639. The device installed in seconds from the moment i have connected it to the USB. Since then (4 weeks) working fine, very easy to use. Simple interface. Faxes are delivered clear. No need to hard-copy print the faxes to send them. Glad for my decision. Worth the money

    VERY GOOD VALUE for the $.., i had 1 already & it works good for dial-up connection on wXP & to w10-pro once u figure-out how to set'em up.., in w7 these need no drivers but in w8.1 to 10pro these set-up with an AGERE/LSI 2.0 driver.., i kno alot of ppl dont use dial-up anymore but i always keep a dial-up isp incase wifi goes down.., dial-up pages take a lil-longer to load but THEY DO LOAD ! & if a person pays their' bills online & cant get online because wi-fi is down then dial-up or are the other 2-alternatives other than mail & a one-time $15/mo. charge for unlimited dialup is a lot cheaper than a $35-late chg. & thats $35.00 PER BILL pd. online TOO.., i recommend this particular modem over the HiRO USB modem ..
