A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings is the definitive collection of Elvis' Sun-era recordings in one comprehensive package. A Boy From Tupelo: The Complete 1953-1955 Recordings includes every surviving Elvis Presley Sun master and outtake, plus two private records Elvis paid with his own money to record, as well as all known radio- and concert performances from the period. Many of these recordings are rare demos, session takes, and live performances including a newly discovered and previously unreleased recording of "I Forgot to Remember to Forget" from a 1955 Louisiana Hayride performance. The accompanying 120-page book compiled by Elvis authority Ernst Mikael Jørgensen and is, in essence, a fully-illustrated travelog. It details the birth of Elvis career through facts, anecdotes, documentation, many rare photos, and a succinct narrative. Independence Day 1954 is when this uniquely American saga begins, less than 24 hours before his first professional recording session, and it ends in December 1955, when the rights to Elvis' Sun tapes officially expire and the singer leaves Sam Phillips and Sun Records to record for RCA Victor. This is the story of Elvis Presley before he becomes world-famous, and how this amazing young man readies himself for stardom, achieving success on a level that no one could have dreamed possible.

        Great Early Elvis Music

        This is a great box set with Elvis songs from of the early 1950's. You can tell Elvis was dedicated to bringing the best of his music to light with many takes for the same song. Not bad considering Elvis is still remembered for the very same after all these years. I've heard the songs before but this set is one that shows Elvis was perfecting his style to give the very best of the song(s). Even after all these years these songs are still great and the talent that was emerging every time Elvie sang. Worth the time to get this set.

        Heavy on Early Elvis

        This 3 CD package contains most - if not all - of the early Elvis recordings both in studio as well as some radio programs and concerts. Don't expect the polished super production recordings of Elvis later in his career. However, you will enjoy it if your are a fan and marvel at being able to hear the genesis of what the world came to know as "The King" of Rock & Roll!!!

        excellent elvis cd set

        one of the best cd sets on Elvis I've very seen. The book included is worth the price. There hundreds of pictures from 1954-55, many I've never seen. Plus the captions almost always tells who's in the photos, even some of the fans names. The live portion of the cd's has every performance that's on tape, several songs that are rare; such as Little Mama, early tapes of Shake, Rattle and Roll, Fool Fool Fool, Hearts of Stone and I'm Left, You're Right, She's Gone. If you're an Elvis fan, this set is a must! If you're not a devoted fan, but like good old rockabilly you won't be disappointed. It's the best cd set ever of Elvis pre-RCA.
