      goldwing backrest

      I've had three types now. This one by far gives the best support allowing me to adjust fairly easily. It does not give or move so it stays rigid to support you, but at the same time feels good on your lower back. It folds forward enough to allow my wife to ease on to the bike with little difficulty. It is relatively easy to install and looks clean with or without the included black covers for the chrome side rods. I like it without them. Makes for a nice accent for the seat. I finally found one that makes me comfortable and hugs me on long 500 mile stretches.

      Necessary comfort

      We had to replace our heated seats on our Gold Wing and found out that if we wanted to keep the back rest from the original, a hole would have to be drilled through our new seat. We suspected that the hole drilled for the original seat possibly caused the seat not to function. I bought this seat for 3 reasons. It's made of the same leather as the seat, it has covers over the bars, and it has a pouch similar to the one on the old back rest. My husband is very pleased with the feel of it on his back and it looks great. Shipping was fast and very convenient. I didn't have to take it to the mechanic. It's easy to install and adjust. I read some reviews about it coming loose and our mechanic told us that you have to be careful not to over tighten the adjustment nuts. I would definitely ...

      Have 2008 Goldwing GL1800

      At first with little to no instructions but enough it took a minute to figure out. Only draw back that puzzled me is that first bracket screws in right through the fabric on back of the rest. It works and well just have to figure and I personally went to picture on Ebey in conjunction with 1 page schismatic sent with rest. Didn’t make since until I had it together and placed on Goldwing. It’s comfortable and flips up and down for easy access to mount bike.

      Worth the effort

      After the mounting supports were installed, it was a bit tight to get the backrest to slide into the attaching supports (the backrest tubes weren't at the same angle as the supports were). I got it installed but you can't slide the backrest back and forth because it is tight but hoping after a while it will get easier. I like that it matches the original seat design and it gives you that little support to your lower back that makes a long ride more comfortable.
