      "KIT" lens you say?

      Great "kit" lens, sharp, fast and silent focus on D7100 Inexpensive and light weight. Great walk around lens for daytime situations. Get the VR version if needed for low light or hand holding video. Purchase the equally inexpensive lens hood and you will have a complete unit. Very surprised and happy with this lens.

      It's a good lens. Not a great lens, but for the $ it's fine

      IT IS NOT AN AP-S LENS. Only works with newer cameras. It's a good kit lens. Toss it in a bag and go. It is reasonably wide and zooms well for indoor shooting (it is not a bright lens, so use flash in doors), works well outdoors for scenic shots, zoom is kinda useless for scenic (well just help you frame a shot). Its mostly plastic but whatcha want for the price. Images are sharp enough and it is a very good daylight lens.
