Vastly underrated!
This has to be one of the better movies that hardly anybody knows about. Despite it seeming strange many of the events in it are actually based on crazy things the U.S. military actually attempted. Another nice bonus are all the jedi references since Ewan Mcgregor stars in it. Overall the word on this one should get out.

What a waste of time.
I saw this movie once before and I thought it would be good to watch it again. WRONG!!!!! I really didn't care anything about any of the characters and none of them looked like who/what they were portraying. What a waste of film...........I must have originally seen the movie during my drinking days.

The Men Who Stare at Goats
Why you bought it. I was deployed in Afghanistan and saw it there at a USO theater. I had tears in my eyes and cramps in my sides before it was over. What you like most about it. Being immersed in that environment, it was funny how well the movie parodied the actions of the DoD and US Army. There are a million straight lines and inside jokes throughout the movie. What you dislike about it. While my buddies and I, in Afghanistan, were on the floor, when I shared it with friends back in the states, the laughs did not translate as well for those who were not as close to it as we were. I had to explain many of the nuances. Review: Much better (technical accuracy) than Hurt Locker, GIs will love it.Why you bought it. I was deployed in Afghanistan and saw it there at a USO theater. Clooney & Goat
I'll buy anything Clooney, but I bought this DVD for the whole cast, including "Goat," who is credited as such on the cover. The movie is a clever and ironically nostalgic look back at the weirdest era in American history. Jeff Bridges is phenomenal, and Kevin Spacey ALWAYS delivers. Clooney is adorable in the long hair and silly as can be, more understated (better, to me) than in some of his other comedic roles, where he can get a bit over-the-top with the low brow humor. Movie was not as great as the cast
One would think that with the cast in this film: Ewan McGregor, George Clooney, Jeff Bridges, Kevin Spacey, and Stephen Lang this film would be funny and very entertaining. However that is not exactly the case. It is somewhat entertaining in that you will watch the entire movie, but it lacks the laughs and enthusiasm that one would expect from the hype it received. I was a bit disappointed by that and by the lack of substance. The plot was very thin. On their own, Bridges, McGregor, Clooney and Spacey are great actors and I would watch any movie any of them are in.
