    Small, yet accurate

    The set of blocks IS in scale for 1:96 - but that means that the smallest ones are a mere 2mm in size. These will be challenging to use on the model (requiring a holding jig and magnification), but worth the effort if one had steady hands. I plan on using slightly 'out of scale' blocks - perhaps 3mm for the smallest ones (bunt blocks) All the other blocks are better than what is typically provided in wood model kits. Since they are made of walnut, the color is naturally the type appropriate for use on a ship, whereas other commercial blocks are of light colored wood and have to be tinted. The 2.5mm deadeyes are a little undersized (2 1/4mm), but can be used aloft on the model (topmast and topgallant masts). I have 3mm deadeyes for the backstays, to be used in tandem with the 3.5mm ...
