When a skyscraper restaurant begins burning out of control, firefighters battle the blaze in a desperate attempt to prevent the entire building from toppling. Six-hundred-and-eighty-feet above the ground, the terrified diners struggle to breathe as the fire spreads. The massive observation ball above them is growing unstable. If firefighters don't act fast, the situation will no doubt end in tragedy. When the stairs collapse, everyone fears the worst. Exciting disaster movie, originally in German
This film held my interest, but was very improbable. The fire in a skyscraper restaurant was indeed an inferno, so much so that everyone should have quickly died of smoke inhalation or burned to death, rather than survived for three hours. People do die, but mostly from falling out the windows or being squashed in a falling elevator. The leading man, a fireman who was kicked off the force a year ago for letting his partner die in a fire, is constantly reminded of this by everyone, but never tells his side of the story in order to protect his partner's good reputation. When he finally tells the truth, it doesn't make sense, because it could only be true if he were dead --- yet everyone accepts it without question. The dialogue was originally in German; the dubbed English that doesn't match ... This film held my interest, but was very improbable.
