According to eBay, an Open box item is "in excellent, new condition with no wear, " and while this pole trimmer was offered as "open box," and in unsealed OE packaging, it was neither new nor undamaged.
IMHO, seller made an honest mistake, and rectified that mistake by issuing a full refund within 24 hrs when I reported the item was damaged, and sent him a photo of the actual damage.
No argument, no equivocation, no delay, just honesty and empathy, which I applaud.
