Product Information

Nintendo expands its "Touch Generations" series of casual, instructional, and family friendly software with Personal Trainer: Cooking. Designed as an interactive tool for cooking, the program includes more than 245 international recipes to create with the help of full-color photos and step-by-step instructions. Also included is voice-over narration from the "DS Chef" to assist in your meal preparation, and a built-in timer and calculator. Fun for the kids

My sons (10 and 12) are budding chefs so they thought this was great. It’s good fuel for their imaginations and if I get a few good dinners out of it that’s just icing on the cake. It’s not as comprehensive as a normal cookbook but it is a good tool for them to explore the world of food and develop practical kitchen skills. They’re also far more interested in trying new things when it’s their idea. In your face, chicken fingers.

  • Great Buy!

I decided to buy the Personal Trainer: Cooking Nintendo DS game because I got tired of cooking the same meals day in and day out. Now that I have it I'm absolutely happy! The game gives you a lot of recipes and you can customize the game to only give you recipes with the ingredients you want to use. It has a voice input mode so you can verbally tell the DS to turn the page while making your meals. The only down side is its limited to the recipes that it has. There is no updating of the recipe list. Like for example, you could go online to download more recipes to add to the collection. It doesn't do that. All in all though, I would recommend this game to anyone looking to spice up their dinner table with a meal from every country around the world.

  • Awesome program! Great cooking! Love it!

This is so easy to use! Made Lasagna last night and it turned out wonderfully. The grocery list is a very good touch and the timer is helpful too. Being able to add notes is helpful if I want to change a recipe a tad. The instructions for prep are quite basic but for younger cooks--teens--the prep information would be helpful. You can also have the verbal instructions start from wherever you want them to so you can skip the prep part if you like. On the con side--there are not enough substitutions on the list provided. Most of them are all foreign ingredients. Basic substitutes would be more helpful. The mic is very sensitive. I don't know whether that is a good thing or not --if my kids spoke to me the program would kick in and say "excuse me?" or something like that. I had quite a bit ...

  • Exellent game! Recipe Book! Very Detailed! Good Content! Yummy Foods!

Excellent game! I've played it before, but I wanted my own copy. Well, I can't say "PLAYED" it... But still. This is a RECIPE book game, NOT an actual jumpin' and shootin'-- actual gameplay game. The game goes into detail on how to make foods and dishes. You can chose dishes by calorie count, easiness, types of meat/veggies and a few other ways. You even have a shopping list of the ingredients you need for your dish-- and what you can replace! It has all it's food sorted by regions. I think that's cool because, if you want some Indian food, you can just look in India! You can also chose from a list if you don't really mind what region. They are also separated by what kind of dish they are, like side-dish and so on. What really separates this game from all the others is: It has video ...

  • Recipes are interesting!

I bought this for my 10 year old daughter who loves to cook and for myself. I thought it would be interesting to see the different recipes and love the fact that there is step by step instructions. I like also, that you can search by regional food (Pasta, Meat dishes, etc...) and it's simple to understand. I would recommend this to anyone that is a first time cook, or someone who just wants to try something new.
