  • Nuron - Nokia smartphone for T-Mobile: Wows! and Ohs?

Where To Use The Nuron- This quadband GSM 850/900/1800/1900 MHz (worldwide), 3G 1700/2100 MHz AWS Band IV, WCDMA 850MHz Band V is a North American phone. Lacking Band II, the other NA WCDMA band, it is offered by T-Mobile. User Interface- The user interface(UI)is Symbian60 v5 for touch. If you've used other S60 devices you'll be right at home. Coming from another UI will take a short time to get used to how it works and to learn where things are. Web Browser- The web browser is good at rendering the non-Flash content of most web pages. I use mine for on-line banking, for example, and have no problems. You'll have to connect via 3G, EDGE or GPRS; WiFi is not included. Contacts- This has a full featured contacts application. Multiple numbers per contact is supported as is SIND, speaker ...

  • Good Phone

Very Basic. Excellent Battery Life and Excellent service with out T-Mobile. he Nokia 5230 Nuron has free maps and voice-guide navigation via Ovi Maps, 3G, and excellent call quality, all at an affordable price. It's also the first Nokia smartphone with a U.S. carrier to offer access to the Ovi Store. The bad: The Nuron lacks Wi-Fi and a document viewer. Its user interface is clunky and confusing, and we wish it had a capacitive touch screen. No flash for the camera. The bottom line: The Nokia 5230 Nuron for T-Mobile isn't the most advanced or fastest smartphone on the market, but budget-conscious customers will find an incredible deal here.

  • good buy

I wanted a phone to upgrade from my Nokia ExpressMusic. I loved my old phone for its size and excellent MP3 capacity. The 5230 looked like a very workable entry level Smartphone. It is. Features of the new phone are easy to navigate...not a difficult learning curve. It has more memory capacity and, of course, tons more functions. I like that I can turn it on its side and use a qwerty keyboard. It seems to have better reception than my old phone too. I think this is a great phone.

  • It could have been a contender!!

First, the good: Runs almost as many apps as Android, thousands of which are free, and available from the built in Nokia Ovi Store. These include many great music apps, such as Shazam and Mobbler (LastFM player). This phone can handle all sorts of streaming thrown at it: AAC, MP3, MP4, etc. It can play all channels of SomaFM. It also has a world class free for life GPS navigation system built in with voice guidance w/street names. Next, the bad: I would rate this phone at good or higher if it had WiFi, and did not have the buggy T-Mobile firmware on it. This firmware slows the phone way down, and it is constantly stuttering and freezing. If you buy this phone, I would having it flashed with non TMO firmware, or debranding it to overcome this issue. The built in web browser is sub par. ...
