So it may not work in a USB expansion box without a 12 VDC power adapter. It functions perfectly in a USB expansion box with 12 VDC power. It does seem to run quite warm.

    Not comparable for Lacie 2big, but works for external drives with 12V power supply

    I was plan to use them for my Lacie 2big, but it turns out they are not comparable. I reused them as backup external drives which provides 12V power supply.

    This thing needs a dedicated fan on it. It gets wayyy too hot. Never said this needed to be cooled by a fan. These drives are useless if they aren’t normally passively cooled like any other normal hdd.
