You want monsters? We got em! You want them to fight bikers led by a young Scott Glenn? It's here! Make-up effects by legend Stan Winston? You know it, Baby! Cheesey plot and 1970's Fashion? Yep! This movie is a lot of fun and makes you long for the Drive-in theaters of yesteryear. Whether you sought it out as I did to remind myself how fun it was when I originally saw it as a kid, or if you just love a cult classic....This one delivers! It's hard to find and might cost a little more then you would think it should, but dogone it it has CHARM!!!! See it!You want monsters? We got em! was great to see this movie again...(had not seen it since childhood) it was released in 1972 ,and that was probably the last time i saw it. The scariest part of the movie is the first 4 minutes which are a "fire and brimstone " monologue delivered to great effect to Terrify the "kiddies"..."Hell... I have to admit, even at my age now ..i found it unnerving"...the rest of the movie is pretty predictable: men in rubber suits running around as Gargoyles...still kinda" freaky though.was great to see this movie again...(had not seen it since childhood) it was released in 1972 ,and that was probably the last time i saw it. Gargoyles - Best TV Movie of the 70's (Horror) !
The first time I saw this was back in the late 70's. As a young kid into "Creature Features" , I was blown away. Nothing at that time was being made especially for TV like this. The classic demon look was really cool. The cast was great. Bernie Casey scared the hell out of me as the leader of The Gargoyles. Great job Stan Winston ! The other characters were believable. Veteran actor Cornel Wilde and up and coming Jennifer Salt and Scott Glenn were great. I even got a kick out of old "Uncle Willy". When skeletal remains of a mythical nature are discovered in the desert, an old timer calls in a well known college professor (Wilde) who brings along his daughter (Salt) as an assistant. From that point on scary things begin to happen. They enlist the help of some "Dirt Bikers" including Glen ... The first time I saw this was back in the late 70's. I think this movie beats out most of the hack and slash films of the 80's. Intelligently done. Props to the director and production staff! One of the two best movies of the 70's.
