About this product

Product Information

In THE HONEYMOONERS--an update of the classic 1950s television comedy that starred Jackie Gleason--Ralph Kramden (Cedric the Entertainer) is a New York City bus driver and irrepressible dreamer whose mind constantly whirs with new plans to get rich. But six years after meeting his wife, Alice (Gabrielle Union), none of his schemes have resulted in anything more than clutter in the closet of their Brooklyn apartment. When Alice's dream of buying a home looks like it could become a reality, the Kramdens team up with their best friends who live upstairs, Ed (Mike Epps) and Trixie (Regina Hall), to amass the $20,000 for a down payment before a shady land developer (Eric Stoltz) beats them to it.THE HONEYMOONERS gives a few nods to the original series, like Ed's trademark hat, and a sweet twist on Ralph's signature line: instead of threatening to knock Alice to the moon, he promises to take her there someday. Cedric the Entertainer is an ebullient screen presence, revealing the good heart beneath Ralph's swagger as he struggles to keep from letting Alice down yet again. With its talented cast and zippy script, THE HONEYMOONERS is a comedy anyone can enjoy.

Boring! Boring! Boring! This movie is a real dud! The original "Honeymooners" was funny. Gleason and Carney were funny people with the facial expressions and swagger to pull off the gags. They had the natural comedic ability to play off of each other's strengths. I'm sorry, but I found this film to be "slapstick stupid!" I like Cedrick the Entertainer in other roles he has played, but in this one, he comes across as silly, and corny. I think that part of what made the original show series funny was that they were white, uneducated, sort-of trailer trash people, who lived their situation because of the contributing factors. Making them black just doesn't work to capture that old magic. This one needs to be renamed "The NONEYmooners". Don't waste your time or money.
