Product Information

David Cronenberg's first foray into mainstream filmmaking is also one of his most satisfying pictures. Adapted from a Stephen King novel, it stars Christopher Walken as Johnny, a man who has been in a coma for five years and wakes up to realize that he can tell a person's fate just by touching them. Realizing that he can change the future as well, Johnny soon gets intervenes in a number of would-be tragedies. Consequently, he soon becomes famous for his gift, but he longs for his former life, when he still had his job, his fiancee, and a normal life. However, when he shakes hands with a future president of the US (Martin Sheen, in a wonderfully hammy performance) who could end up being the biggest mass murderer since Hitler, Johnny wrestles with what seems to be his destiny. Walken's bravura performance forms the soul of this excellent and touching thriller.

    Future Not All That Bright

    This adaptation of the Stephen King classic is one of the better remakes of his books. Christopher Walken is in this movie. Enough said. He is an excellent actor, and this performance is no different. He plays Johnny Smith, who after a terrible accident, can see the future. Sounds cool. In some ways, it is. He helps solve murders, but then he foresees the end of the world. Now what does he do, stop it or let life run it's course? If you've seen this movie and like it, I also recommend the TV series with Anthony Micheal Hall. There are a few things that are different in the series such as they made Sara's son also Johnny's son, and I don't believe it's as good as the movie, but it's still good entertainment.

    Good Movie

    This is the first movie inspired by the book. The movie is over twenty years old but still very entertaining. The question ask, "if you could kill Hilter before he came to power should you?" Johnny Smith can see past, present and somtimes the future. All it takes is one touch. With this great power comes great responsablity. John slowly becomes more skilled and see the fate of the world rests on him. If you have not seen this movie, it is one of the better films around.

    Almost too realistic

    Great Stephen King thriller that mimics today's politics. Martin Sheen's portrayal of Greg Stilltson, running for Senator with Presidency in mind, is a scary example of what realism is all about. The movie parallels real life of a loose cannon in Washington. Like the VP said in the movie "God help us."
