    ''THE EASTER PARADE'' 1947.

This is a great set. Love the movie. Filmed 73 years ago in 1947 and released in theatres in the summer of 1948, it tells the story of a man who escorts a woman to an Easter Parade. As far as the bonus features, the MAIN feature is the ''AMERICAN MASTERS'' documentary, '' Judy Garland--By Myself''. Originally released 16 years ago in 2004, this was a great documentary about Judy's turbulent years until her death in June 1969. This is only available on this 2 disc special edition d.v.d. The blu-ray release does not have this.

  • Fred and Judy are Special

Fred Astaire is probably the greatest dancer ever. Judy Garland was known as the best talent in Hollywood--and is seen here emerging as the great singer. Vincente Minelli was the greatest director of color musicals. And Anne Miller was the best female tap dancer after Eleanor Powell. When Irving Berlin is writing the score and MGM is producing, you have all the ingredients of a great musical. The highlight is Judy and Fred as tramps in the "Couple of Swells" number. Judy outdoes Fred in this number with her brilliant comic mime.Probably the only time Fred has ever been upstaged by his dancing partner. She later adopted this routine in her concert and TV performances. The other highlight--for Garland fans--is the Mr Monotony solo number by Judy, which was an unfortunate cut. This shows a ...

  • MGM Classic Musical!!

A typical MGM Blockbuster Musical. Fred Astaire came out of retirement to work with Judy Garland. A love quadrangle is a dandy subplot in this movie about a Vaudeville adagio dancer who is in need of a new partner after his glamourous parter goes solo. Astaire picks Garland because she can belt a song and has alot of heart, but he is trying to make a sow's ear into a glam-queen and it don't play! Of course all turns out right in the end. Irving Berlin wrote the music; Fred Astaire and Judy Garland were a couple of his favorite musical performers. Fred, because Berlin says He always sings my songs the way I wrote them and Garland because She can sing my songs better than anyone else. Great dancing and singing and the classic -Walk Up the Avenue- baggy pants routine that became a Garland ...

  • Irving Berlin's Easter Parade.

Fred Astaire came out of retirement to join with Judy Garland in a wonderful musical. Judy Garland never looked better especially when she sings the title song in the finale. Astaire's "Stepping Out with My Baby" with three talented dancing partners is one of his great dance routines. The DVD set includes some excellent commentaries.

  • Easter Parade

One of MGM's finest among many others. Judy Garland was great a Dorthy from the Wizard Of Oz but it doesn't stop they're she grew to be one of the finest entertainers in the world in spite of her many ups and downs. The story is sweet, funny and entertaining it takes place in New York around 1912 on Easter Sunday and Fred Astaire lost his dance partner and, well you'll have to see it for your self. You won't be disappointed trust me.
