  • A must. Superman in Russian Glory!

It is not often that a super hero tpb stands the test of time as good as this one has done. It is not often that americans put aside their beliefs and lend their flagship hero to the Russians. Or so to speak. This is one hell of a tale where you can see the Holy Trinity (Batman, Wonder woman and Superman) in great glory through a different perspective. What a great tale. Highly recommended to everyone who loves superhero comic books. Few Superman books are really good but this one is. Along with "All-Star Superman" and "Speeding bullets" this one must be on my shelf for sure. Grab this one. It´s a must.

  • It's almost too much to bear

I bought this to compare it to the DC animated film since a lot of the film comments recommended reading the comic book. I was as uncomfortable in the material as I was in the movie because the thought of Superman not being the defender of America horrified me. The graphics horrify as well, as they should. This is not a glamour shot. Nothing is pretty here so be warned about over emphasized light and dark graphically. Its perfect for a story of this caliber. It's an outstanding tale of a well meaning hero whose values are homegrown and he wants to 'fix' things. But even in fixing things like only he is capable of doing he's missing the point. Suffering is deeper than surface appearance. You can't control everything in every situation, hard as you try. Derelicts exist underground and right ...

  • A wonderful bit of pop culture fiction

I purchased the book as part of my research for an article for BACK ISSUE magazine. Mark Millar's "Red Son" is a stand-out effort in the Elseworlds series of stories, well-written and engaging, that holds the reader's interest cover to cover. An iconic, indeed THE iconic hero in a completely different setting, but maintaining his essential core elements made for a genuinely fresh look at the Superman known and loved literally throughout the world. A great read that I cannot recommend highly enough.

  • fun read & gift
