  • The Conspiracy Song

With the tongue in cheek hilarious lyrics still intact, The Dead Milkmen put forth another little masterpiece called Soul Rotation. Musically this one is much more mature than previous efforts and it does contain some of their best songs (At The Moment, The Secret Of Life, Wonderfully Colored Plastic War Toys). The albums weak point comes near the middle with How It's Gonna Be. Lyrically HIGB is like the old school DM but musically it drives me insane. Horns and funky disco guitars don't work with the DM. Otherwise, this is a flawless, punky, pop, sarcasm driven ride that you won't want to miss. 4 Stars.

  • Milkmen progress don't go sour

You can't call it more mature, but it's definitely a more developed sound here. No one in the 90s sounded like this and that's why it doesn't sound dated. Recommended for Milkmen fans, folks not familiar with the Dead Milkmen should start with "Big Lizard In My Backyard."
