A ragtag group of forest critters awakes from hibernation to find that their forest has been turned into a suburban housing development in this animated film co-directed by Tim Johnson (ANTZ) and first-timer Karey Kirkpatrick, and based on a comic strip by Michael Fry and T Lewis. Paternal turtle Verne (Gary Shandling) and his makeshift family--spunky skunk Stella (Wanda Sykes), speedy squirrel Hammy (Steve Carrell), dramatic father opossum Ozzie (William Shatner), and his perpetually embarrassed daughter Heather (Avril Lavigne)--are ready to start the annual forage for food when they discover a giant hedge where their forest used to be. Luckily, charming raccoon RJ (Bruce Willis) shows up just in time to teach them about humans and life on the other side of the hedge, and how much food there is to be had.But what Verne and his pals don't know is that RJ's intentions are not necessarily honorable: this loner needs the food they forage to pay back a large debt to Vincent, a very large, angry bear (Nick Nolte). To make matters more difficult, on the other side of the hedge is Gladys (Allison Janney), the president of the neighborhood homeowner's association, who doesn't take kindly to wild animals. When she calls in the Verminator, Dwayne (Thomas Haden Church), it's all-out war as the animals infiltrate the world of humans. Will the loving forest family emerge victorious, or will the spoils of suburbia run them out of the small patch of land they have left? And will RJ stick by his new family, or just keep looking out for himself? Songs by musician Ben Folds reflect the film's take on the perils of suburbanization without being too preachy.

Great animated film!!!
Over the Hedge Great cast, with great animation, it's just too bad I played the video game first, I already knew what was going to happen! I usually don't like these 3D animated movies. They usually lack story and are made for younger audiences. Over the Hedge really surprised me, the voice acting was great, the story wasn't too unoriginal, and it's put together very nicely. Bruce Willis and Wanda Sykes are great, and the rest of the supporting cast is just as good. Over the Hedge is one of the better 3D Animated Movies I've seen in the last 5 years. Final Verdict: 5/5 Rent or Buy?: I wouldn't buy it for myself, but if you have children or are a big fan of these movies, it's a definite must own. Funny Story with good lesson
Over the Hedge is a cute tale of your everyday critters learning the lessons of domesticated life. RJ the racoon has a run in with a bear whos food he tries to steal, he is forced to trick a bunch of 'hibernators' into helping him collect enough food for the winter (the food is really for the bear). Along the way he teaches the hibernators the way of domesticated scrap eating animals and where to find the best human foods. Despite some trouble with exterminator and a crazy house wife the hibernators teach RJ what real friends do for each other and other lessons of friendship! A great story, and very funny! Highly recommend!Over the Hedge is a cute tale of your everyday critters learning the lessons of domesticated life. Enjoyment For The Whole Family
Dreamworks new animated film is funnier than "Madagascar" but not as funny as "Shrek". However, the animation is far superior to both. Taken from the comic strip of the same name, "Hedge" is a cartoon environmental culture clash. Spurred on by the con artist "RJ the Raccoon", a band of cute critters work together to steal human food for themselves (actually for RJ). Lessons are learned (value of family, in particular), villains are defeated and the animals survive for the inevitable sequel. Unlike many other films of this genre, the adult jokes are kept to a minimum and are much more effective for it. The animation really is terrific. The depth and detail is pretty amazing. The Dreamworks animation department continues to impress. All the vocal work led by Bruce Willis, William Shatner, ... Dreamworks new animated film is funnier than "Madagascar" but not as funny as "Shrek". However, the animation is far superior to both. A Great Animated Comedy
If you want a great animated comedy Movie that will give your kids a lot of good laughs well this is one that will do the job. My kids laughed so hard at times I had to ask them to quite down some so we could hear. They are very happy that I got them this movie and so am I, and I must say I enjoyed it myself. It will also be a movie that the kiddie's will want to watch more than once it will not be a waste of your money at least it wasn't of mine. I give this 5 S*T*A*R*S*.If you want a great animated comedy Movie that will give your kids a lot of good laughs well this is one that will do the job.
