Detective Vic Mackey (Michael Chiklis, THE COMMISH) leads the elite Strike Team in the fictional L.A. district of Farmington, employing dubious but effective crime-fighting methods as a tough, successful, but corrupt cop. The other detectives and cops on the force disapprove of the team's methods, while the precinct head, Captain David Aceveda (Benito Martinez), is just as corrupt as Mackey. The stoic, upright Detective Claudette Wyms (CCH Pounder, ER), who understands both sides of the game, provides a much-needed balance and rationality to the mix. The charismatic Mackey strikes just the right pitch so as to be the least sympathetic antihero television has yet seen, while the controversial themes and violent nature of the content manage the effect of making audiences really think about what they're watching. In the explosive seventh and final season of this gripping police drama, the Strike Team�s morally ambiguous tendencies just may lead to some unexpected closure. This set features all 13 episodes, including the extended series finale.

A great ending to a great show
I will admit my bias up front: The Shield is my favorite show...ever. Also, Vic Mackey is one of the most compelling characters ever portrayed. Regardless, this season stands on its own. It is a gut-wrenching dénouement of the tragic actions of Season 5. (If you have Season 6, you already know that Shawn Ryan wanted to end the series with an expanded sixth season.) The only thing I could complain about is that I was hoping for more in the way of extras. I really like what they had, but I wanted more. In previous seasons, they took us into the writers room as they figured out story lines. I wished they could have done that for the final two episodes. If you already own previous seasons, you won't need my review to sway your decision to purchase the final one. If you've never seen ... Outstanding! You wanna see a real cop show, turn off Law and Order!
This was truly one of the best shows to ever premier on basic cable. It wasn't your typical police drama where you always know the good guys are going to triumph, but rather a harsh,realistic,gritty look at what tranpires behind the scenes and the measures our "protectors" will take to retain their power. Good television shows are few and far between,and this definitely pushes the boundaries of traditional television and sometimes crosses them. Series 7 allows me to complete my set which I enjoy watching over & over because of the excellent writing and detail.This was truly one of the best shows to ever premier on basic cable. The Shield- The Final Season
I really enjoyed The Shield on FX. I have all 7 seasons on DVD. The fast paced, cop drama follows Vic Mackey and his crew through a rough and tough town slightly based on LA. You side with Mackey on several cases and then there are the few where he crosses the line....Way over the line. I decided to buy this DVD because I needed the last season and could not find it anywhere. In hindsight and in future purchases it is cheaper in the long run to buy the whole complete series instead of each season by itself.
