One of the major family sitcoms of the late 1980s/early 1990s was the popular and acclaimed ROSEANNE. Although the antics of its main star, Roseanne Barr (later Roseanne Arnold), and some poor writing eclipsed the show in its later years, the FIRST SEASON remains a model of quality television. The show was about the life of a working-class family in Illinois, the Conners, who are more like a regular family than television personalities. Mom Roseanne (Barr) and Dad Dan (John Goodman) use brutal honesty and acerbic wit to raise their three children: rapidly maturing Becky, sarcastic Darlene, and precocious DJ. Meanwhile, they have to deal with the typical problems of an American family: dealing with relatives, worrying about jobs and money, and struggling to find time for themselves. ROSEANNE was among the first shows on television that dealt with working class life and issues in a truthful and deglamorized fashion, and still managed to remain funny and touching while doing so.

Another Roseanne Hit
If you love Roseanne, you'll love having the seasons!! Between Roseanne Bar, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Lecy Goranson (the 1st becky), Sara Gilbert, & Micheal fishman, you get a glimpse into the life of every day people doing the best they can to get their little slice of the American dream. Although it was not the longest running sitcom in TV history, it's 9 full seasons kept us entertained throuh the latter half of the 80's and into the 90's. One thing I personally loved about the whole idea of the show was that the main characters were not some prettied up, slimmed down hollywood version, but rather they were a cpl of fat, happy people who knew they were fat and didn't care. My hats off to the entire cast!!If you love Roseanne, you'll love having the seasons!! A Great Series
The first season of Roseanne is one of my favorite ones! Unlike many sitcoms that take time to get things just right, Roseanne was excellent from the very beginning! The chemistry between John Goodman and Roseanne was perfect from the very beginning. Their blue collar life style is also pretty darn typical & realistic for family life in the 80's and the comedic turn they put on it can be hilarious at times! I highly recommend this series for anyone who loves a great, classic sitcom. All but the last couple seasons are classic, rare gems that you can not find in todays sitcoms.The first season of Roseanne is one of my favorite ones! This is a great DVD collection for ANY classic fans of the hit TV sitcom Roseanne from the 90's. This DVD has many of the great first moments in the running of this series. It has the first episode ever made, it has many behind the scene extras and numerous interviews with the cast and producers. I purchased this DVD collection for my wife for Christmas and I was the one that ended up watching it! It is great and it tackles many of today's toughest family issues. Roseanne-Season One
My favorite Roseanne episodes are from the very first season. Its also great to be able to enjoy a show without commercials! I usually watch the reruns on Nick at Nite, but it gets too late sometimes. Now when there is nothing on tv, I can pop in the DVD and watch which ever episodes I like. I can really relate to this show and how I grew up. A lot of people don't like Roseanne, but I love this DVD!My favorite Roseanne episodes are from the very first season. The suburban family that we can feel with
I have been a fan of Roseanne for years ever since it was originally on tv. The are in my mind one fo the few shows that show real people with real problems. They are not skinny beautiful people that are sleeping with everyone and their brother. They fight, make up, love, and support each other like a real family. The face the same problems that we all face and they struggle like us. Its nice to have a family that I can feel a similarity with. The best part is that they solve their problems with each other and with alot of comedy. The onyl show that shows a real blue collar family.I have been a fan of Roseanne for years ever since it was originally on tv.
