  • great value for quality sound

The GXL1200 mic is a nice sounding small diaphragm condensor mic suitable for stage or studio usage. It is typical of the many affordable small diaphragm condensor mics being made in China these days; Very nice sound quality, good all around microphones, fairly tight pick up pattern (good off axis rejection, but it can be a bit of an abrupt roll off and the sweet spot a bit small for some uses, but that's what is needed in other uses, hence why a good variety of mics are needed), and occasionally they are a bit bright sounding. However these are characteristics of many small diaphragm condensor mics. The only negative I have with the GXL1200 is that the mic pouch included is too small to fit in the mic, it's clip and the foam windscreen. The durability of the mic clip and ...

  • Good choice for an inexpensive condensor mic

I got samples of several inexpensive condensor microphones, to mix acoustic cymbals with electronic drums. My sample of this was well made, although the storage pouch provided was not adequate for the mic, windscreen and clip. It reproduced the cymbals well, and did not pick up the drum pads near the cymbals. There was a hint of ambiance noise, but not bad at all. Perfectly adequate for my uses. I would rate this as little better than the Behringer C2 and just a hair below the Audix F15. For the price, it is a pretty good, compact, condensor mic. Keep in mind, that being a condensor, it will need a source of phantom power (usually from whatever mixer you plug it into). I'll be trying to get a second one.

  • Great mic for the money

Purchased several of these after trying one out to use for acoustic instrument micing. Mixing live sound for bluegrass shows with dynamic mics sometimes left holes where a performer would stand off axis and not close enough to be picked up. The Cad mics took care of this problem and weren't too sensitive so feedback wasn't too much of an issue. For the cost I could afford to purchase 4 at a time, and keep them in my arsenal. I own some great studio mics that I didn't like to take out in the elements , and these solved that problem too. Comparing them to the expensive mics like my AKG 451's really isn't fair, but these CADs definitely can hold their own and do the same job for a lot less money. I'm not afraid to use these in the studio either, and they would make a great low cost condenser ...

  • Good Deal!!

We (my brother and I ) decided to purchase these mic's to be used as instrument mic's,...specifically, as overheads on the drum kit. We had been using another drum mic for the purpose, and it was doing a workmanlike job. When we plugged these pup's in,the difference was stark!! All in all, I'm VERY happy with these mic's. We did a bit of on-line research before pulling the trigger on them, and the reviews were overwhelmingly positive. I'd have to reply to the one negative reviewer who said he couldn't get a good sound out of them.."you probably weren't putting a "good sound" INTO them"..!!!!

  • We use it for acoustic guitar recordings.

Great product. Even flat response. Really hard to beat for the price. Compaired it to simuliar mics which were at a higher price and it holds up well.
