The Beach Boys have opened their archives for a new career-spanning, six-CD collection titled MADE IN CALIFORNIA, capping the legendary bands 50th Anniversary celebrations. MADE IN CALIFORNIA features more than seven and a half hours of music, including more than 60 previously unreleased tracks. The deluxe set is presented in a high school annual-inspired hardbound book with personal recollections from the bands members, replicated classic artwork and memorabilia, photos from the bands archive, and handwritten yearbook-style inscriptions from Beach Boys Brian Wilson, Mike Love, Al Jardine, Bruce Johnston, and David Marks.

    Great boxset of many rare beach boys songs.

    Tons of rare songs here from one of the greatest harmonic bands in earth's history. Great songwriting and vocals and the band could play when in the studio even if they had studio musicians on some of their midsixties releases. They made great music throughout their career and this boxset highlights it. I have all their boxsets and releases so you could say I am big fan of their music. the sound here is very good and this out of print boxset is well worth owning.

    Great Set!

    This 6 CD set includes many Beach Boy favorites, demos, alternate versions, live and previously unreleased cuts. The music has been remastered and I think these are the best versions I've ever heard. The CDs are housed in a hard cover book that has printed autographs of the remaining band members, plenty of photos with info, and a long list of those involved in the recordings throughout the years. Also, there is a song list for each CD stating who wrote the song and who sang lead vocal. There are also memorial photos for both Carl and Dennis. The set I bought has a saw cut at the top of the book. It is a 5/8 inch cut and it cuts into the book pages about 1/2 inch. It really doesn't affect the set that badly. Most pictures are not near it. This is probably a demo set, but all CDs play fine. ...

    Manufacturing defect on disc 3 and replacements are hard to find

    I'm a California native and I have a couple of cousins who are MASSIVE Beach Boys fans who live near Hawthorne so I grew up hearing The Beach Boys. A few years ago, I ended up moving to Washington State and I've been missing listening to them. I decided to pick up a sealed copy of this box set. What I didn't know is that apparently all the early pressings at least, have a manufacturing error on disc 3 which adds two seconds of silence to the beginning of all the songs and cuts off Surf's Up early on the fade out. This problem has come up on a couple of different forums and is even referenced in reviews on Amazon. Capitol Records originally even offered replacement discs but those are long gone now. There are still what seems to be a large number of sealed copies out there that include ...

    Beach Boy Fans should buy it now

    Great for hardcore Beach Boy music lovers & a worthy retrospective collection for those that like the hit records too. There are quite a few tracks that aren't available on any other release. The sound is good too. a no problem transaction.

    Surf's Up dudes and dudettes!

    This is essentially a replacement for the original box set they released many years ago. But lotsa new stuff here as well. I got it for about $10 a disc. How can you pass that up! Surf's Up dudes and dudettes!
