About this product

Product Information

The word itself conjures up mystery, romance, intrigue, and grandeur. What could be more perfect for an author/illustrator who has continually stripped away the mystique of architectural structures that have long fascinated modern man? With typical zest and wry sense of humor punctuating his drawings, David Macaulay traces the step-by-step planning and construction of both castle and town.

The seller listed the book as new and I received a damaged book. The seller didn t want to accept the book and was very rude over messages. The seller escalate the case to ebay which after seing the photos of the product issued the refund. We know that issues and problems with USPS are common, but the seller was very rude and lacks customer service. All this for how much ? 5.95. Yes, the seller didn t issue and refund and escalate the case with ebay for 5.95.

This buyer luchitolejt was sent a new book. Ebay reps reviewed this case and did not find us at fault. The buyer got what they wanted... a free book! There are a considerable number of seller complaints against luchitolejt yet Ebay has not taken definitive action against them.

  • Great introduction to castle building with a narrow focus on medieval Wales

Written as a children's book, it goes into detail about a fictional account of the building of an English castle in Wales. Well reseached and yet easliy digested, it is an excellent primer. Standing up to time, even 35 years later it is a good work.

  • another great Macauley book!

I can't say enough about these books! Macauley picques the interest with the smallest details. The drawings are fabulous and can't be beat for taking you back in time!

  • Fascinating

This is the Macaulay production that first grabbed me. Recently read his works again with my 6 and 7 year olds- they were just as enthralled, and got the educational piece to boot.
