About this product

Product Information

She's every lover's feisty girlfriend. She's every father's courageous daughter. She's every woman's tough, vulnerable, and spirited alter ego. She's Kinsey Millhone, familiar to millions of readers around the globe, and she's back in full stride in P is for Peril, her latest venture into the darker side of the human soul. Mordant, mocking, and deceptively low-key, hers is a voice we know we can trust, from a character we've come to love.Through fifteen novels, Sue Grafton has gone from strength to strength, never writing the same book twice. So it's no surprise that she has taken on new territory in her sixteenth, this time entering the world of noir. It's a world cast in shades of black amid shafts of steel and silver, a shadow land in which the mysterious disappearance of a prominent physician leads Kinsey into a danger-filled maze of duplicity and double-dealing as she taps into the intricacies of a cunning Medicare fraud.P is for Peril the novel in which Millhone stakes her life on a thin thread of intuition because the facts glint elusively out of reach and only guesses offer any shot at the truth."Unlike many detective series, Grafton's seems only to get better each time out," wrote Entertainment Weekly, and P is for Peril is a case in point. Pushing herself, reaching further with each new book, Sue Grafton delivers every time.

Very happy with customer service, packing and shipping. Book has more markups than described in info tho, sometimes several lines that take up almost half the page, which is a bit sad. However, considering the price that’s quite fair so I’m happy!

    yet another winner

I am an avid collector of books, mystery and other. I am fascinated with Sue Grafton's so-called alphabet series starring Kinsey Millhone. The stories are exciting without veering off into the implausible avenues that other lesser authors take us down. P is for Peril is a very good, well plotted story with just enough danger to keep you in suspense. Highly recommended!

  • sue grafton kinsey millhone 1940's gum shoe detective in the 1980's

this is the first time kinsey tackles several different mysteries at one time. flap says; dr. dowan purcell had been missing for 9 weeks, when kinsey got a call asking her to take a case. a specialist in geriatric medicine, purcell was a prominent member of the santa teresa medical community, and the police had done a thorough job. ...... it wasn't crystal (the current wife) who called kinsey, it was purcell's ex wife...... in addition to this mystery, kinsey also tries to help henry with his sister in law's bills which accidentally tie in the dow case and then on top of that accidentally stumbles in to another case with two brothers and a fake fbi agent. and the book ends oN a cliff hanger.... i'm still waiting for kinsey to enter the 90's and the age of the cell phone...... book ...

  • P Is for Peril by Sue Grafton

I'm working my way through the Sue Grafton alphabet. I love them all so far. Not original to me, someone said Grafton never writes the same book twice. So far, that's true. For me, I like her sassy Kinsey Milhone and her gutsy attitude toward life. It's great light reading. Unlike some other authors, Grafton doesn't have to be 'over the top' graphic to be great. I selected this particular book for two reasons: 1. I hadn't read "P" yet. 2. It was a signed copy which means it's a keeper. If you haven't read any of Grafton's alphabet, I suggest you start with "A" and wind through the life and trials of Kinsey Milhone. It's an adventure for sure.

  • Must read murder series

This is a book series ... local library had every book from a to q but no p . So I bought it to give to our local library after I read it. This is a great murder mystery that isn’t prrvertefvand yet you feel you know the characters that surround Kinsey Millhoune. I love this series

  • One of the best in Detective Adentures

I've been reading my way through the alphabet with Sue Grafton as the storyteller. I'm not quite halfway through "P is for Peril," but I'm already finding it hard to put down. Anyone who loves detective stories should put all of her books on their reading list. I've got all the others on my bookshelf, ready to read as soon as I finish the one before it.
