  • New life for old PC

Intel® Core™2 Extreme Processor QX6800 (8M Cache, 2.93 GHz, 1066 MHz FSB) This was a $1300 processor in 2007. It was the top of the line. I had an old socket LGA 775 computer (XFX 680i SLI) still clunking along, mostly for browsing the web... I decided that it deserved an upgrade for working trouble free all these years. These processors are really very inexpensive now. I got one that looked like new and installed it with a new water cooling unit. It was just for fun really. This processor worked perfectly. Have overclocked it to 3.5 ghz using stock voltages.

  • Fast, even by today’s standards

I bought two of these to revive a couple of 2006 era Dell Desktop machines. With 2 Intel Sata2 SSDs in RAID 1, 8 gigs of pc2-6400 ram, and a Dell GTX 1050ti gpu, these near 15 year old computers perform their duties with an amazing quickness. Because of the massive, stock, heat pipe cooler and fan, they are dead silent, even under a load. Less than 20 seconds on a restart, desktop-to-desktop. In addition, I’m streaming 3840x2160@30 without a single hiccup. None of this would be possible if not for the blazingly fast cpu. Reviving old hardware is fun, and good for the environment. I’ll be tinkering with Throttlestop to try an over clock. Long story short, these once very expensive, unlocked Intel CPUs have aged well. They can be a bit expensive (I paid less than $50 each), but are worth ...

  • Nice CPU for its time.

Nice little CPU, man it boosted my old computers performance. i had a single core 3.2ghz b4, its like night and day :) My system is Rock stable aswelll, and now i can upgrade to windows 10 aswell. it is more features on this cpu than my old one, so its prb why :) MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, ET64, XD, VMX, EST. A pity it doesnt support hyper threading, But for its time its awesome. and it was nice for my old Abit Fatal1ty F-190HD. Thumbs Up :)

  • Last CPU for 1066 FSB socket 775

This was once a $1300 CPU in 2005. Works Great! This the last of the 1066 FSB for socket LGA 775 - 975X chip set. Have this one paired up with a Zotac 1050Ti mini. 8gb DDR2. BTX board of all things. This 14 year old PC will still play the latest STEAM games and no lag. Truth! Waiting for the 10 nano meter CPUs for the next build.

  • Helps extend service life of older computers

Upgraded 2 Dell Optiplex 745 full size towers with QX6800 SLACP CPUs and both are maxed on 8 GB RAM 1066 MHz speed running Win 7 and seem to be performing well. Only bottle neck now are the 256 MB video cards. This is the fastest CPUs compatible with these towers. Will also work on the next size smaller case Optiplex 745 computer.
