The espresso machine makes espressos (1.35 oz) and lungos (3.7 oz) and makes them quickly even with the time it takes for the machine to start up. The machine takes the original Nespresso coffee pods, not the vurtuo. Original pods are less expensive but with fewer flavor options. I'm a fan.

    Mini is the most reliable

    The Essenza Mini, made by DeLonghi in two shapes and several colors, seems to be the most reliable of these machine that use the original pod. I spent some time looking around the web, and other models had more problems. Aftermarket pods seem to come in two varieties. The ones with two rows of the little "bumps" are softer plastic and easier to penetrate by the machine. The ones with a smooth beveled edge at the small end caused a Mueller machine to break after five pods. Maybe the DeLonghi or Breville would be OK, but I won't be buying them.
