About this product

Product Information

Get rich, high-definition sound on stage or in the studio. The Electro-Voice RE320 is a great multipurpose microphone that works equally well in recording and performance settings. Its sturdy design can record or mic a wide variety of instruments, including voice, guitar, and drums, making it a great mic to add to your gear set. The Electro-Voice RE320 is a revamped and upgraded version of the RE20 microphone model. It is a dynamic microphone with a cartioid polar pattern, which is practical for many different applications. Its sturdy diaphragm and steel case make it an excellent stage microphone, as it can handle lots of use on the road. It has a frequency response of 30 to 18,000 Hz, so it can pick up a variety of frequencies with ease. Its Variable-D pattern control brings stability to sound pickup, and built-in pop filters keep unwanted sounds at bay. It adopts the humbucking coils that made the RE20 so popular to reduce buzzing and other interference-related sounds. The Electro-Voice RE320 dynamic microphone works well for many different instruments. It makes a fantastic vocal mic, especially in performance conditions. It can also mic instruments, such as guitars, horns, drums, or electronic instruments. Its sturdy design also makes it an excellent mic for recording bass guitars and heavier drums, such as kick drums and bass drums. It includes a “Dual Personality” switch that lets you switch between frequency response levels. This helps you create ideal microphoning or recording conditions for different instruments. Switch it to the right-hand side to pick up voice and spoken word tracks with incredible detail or bring out depth in instrumental tracks. Switch to the left-hand position to pack depth into lower frequencies, such as kick drums. The RE-320 dynamic microphone has an XRL connection, which is compatible with standard three-pin XLR cables. You can connect these to a variety of audio devices, including mixers, PA systems, audio interfaces, analog to digital converters, and integrated speakers. If your recording or playback device does not include an XLR input, you may still be able to connect the microphone with an adapter. However, you should double-check to see if the equipment is compatible with analog input devices before attempting to connect the microphone. This microphone is compatible with a variety of accessories, such as filters and stands. However, you can easily get excellent sound without any additional accessories or gear. Use this mic in the studio to record voice and instrumental tracks. You can also use it to record voiceover tracks for your videos or podcasts. For best results, point microphones directly at the instrument or amplifier, as the cardioid pickup pattern picks up sound in front of the mic. If you want to record a room, position multiple RE320 microphones around your recording space to pick up the ambient audio. In a performance setting, use a stand to position your Electro-Voice RE320 dynamic microphones directly in front of sound sources. For vocals, the mic should sit at mouth level and, for instruments, it should point toward the sound hole, bell, or body. Electro-Voice RE320 microphones are offered at many different budget levels. You can also shop for bundled options that include extras and accessories, such as cases, stands, or cables.

    The Classic Workhorse

Look, if it's good enough for the likes Stevie Wonder and countless radio and music pros through the years, it's good enough for my podcast! It makes us sound professional--the dual frequency settings, set to the 'quick attack' setting (usually used for drums) smooths out my vocal pattern (I tend to shout and overmodulate a bit) and makes for an overall great sound to my voice for our show. I own two, both bought through eBay, and am seriously considering adding another to round out the mic cabinet for our show. It's rugged construction allows for us to take it "on the road" to our various live events, and not be too concerned about damage--we treat it very well, but it's a tough sucker and doesn't need to be "babied" like so many other similar mics. Considering it's price when bought ...

Not in the same league as the RE20 or SM7B

It’s just ok to my ears. Sounds a bit cheap / harsh compared to the classic smooth sounding RE20. If you need brighter then the RE27 is also a much better choice. Can not really recommend this one.

  • EV RE320 and Rode PSA1

There are plenty of in depth reviews on these products on blogs and YouTube. If you want the tech specs, look at those. For me, I got these products to publish my podcast. I have a Shure X2U XLR-to-USB Signal Adapter attached that gives me 25DB of pretty clean gain. the RE320 runs pretty hot and my software it at 25%. So far, I love it. Id suggest getting a shock mount of some type and the mic is pretty heavy so a sturdy arm or boom will make life easier. The PSA1 does great at supporting the weight of my shock mount and the RE320; very smooth and stays right where I need it all day.

  • Studio Sound from RE320 for Ham Radio Equipment

I run this microphone through a commercial audio mixer, which has an equalizer with individual level, treble, mid, and bass controls. Then I feed the mixer output through a Direct Box ( DI ), an impedance matching device, directly to the microphone input connector on my Ham Radio transmitter. Although, the microphone sounds good going directly into the Ham Radio, it does not have enough microphone level gain. Having the mixer in-line allows my voice level to be set in order to talk within the range of 2-4 inches from the microphone. Once the level is set, then my voice can be colored to taste by adjusting the treble, mid, and bass controls on the mixer. I like the full-bodied bass sounding voice results this microphone provides. This type of sound is really appealing for late night ...

  • RE320 microphone

I was very pleased to see the mic and case looked like brand new and it works excellent. Because of its sensitivity, it required a few resets on the audio gains, but that was to be expected and the noise canceling design feature is definitely a plus as well, I use this mic for the audio of a broadcast transmitter and get good audio reports from those that I talk to.
