Nowhere near as good as the Optical TrackMan; a great disappointment.
I bought this because I have been a trackball fan for many years and have used Logitech's trackballs for the last 15 years. All my previous trackballs were driven by the fingers and this one is driven by the thumb which is IMHO a serious mistake because I can't use it with speed & accuracy the way I can use a finger-driven one. The fine adjustment to get the cursor between two letters is fiddly and irritating. Time Logitech went back to the drawing-board and reissued the Cordless Optical TrackMan which is the fastest, most accurate and customer-pleasing mouse on the market; I've worn one out and have a 10 year-old predecessor the Cordless TrackMan FX still in use on an old PC !( Is built-in obsolescence the reason why they don't sell them any more ? ) Mr Logitech; you've produced the ... Great device! Bought it for everyday usage in my office. Already have previous generation of Trackman @ home, so did not have to do much market research. Since I started to use Logitech Trackballs, the pain in my wrist disappeared. The device fits perfectly to my quite big hands. Works good from Ni-MH rechargeable battery - I used to save on alkalines. It uses a single AA size battery, while most cheap mouses use two AAA's. The battery life is much better than in non-brand products. Well worth the price I paid for it. No problem with Linux - my system of choice. Uses universal receiver, which can be purchased separately if I loose the original one.Great device! Bought it for everyday usage in my office.
