    After 18 years of Army life Nichols (James Garner) returns home to Nichols, Arizona to find the family ranch has been taken over by Ma Ketchum ( Neva Patterson) and son known only as Ketchum (John Beck). Rose the barmaid (Margot Kidder) Mitch is deputy (Stuart Margolin) Nichols winds up sheriff armed with a motorcycle rather than a six shooter to tame the wild west, keep the town clean and orderly. Light hearted hummer turns this into a cute comedy. Airing 1971-1972 : 24 episodes complete the series. For Garner fans its a must...Cute family fun...

    I watched a few episodes of this in the mid-'60s in B&W. With the complete DVD collection in color, it's even better. Very funny, well-produced and created by Frank Pierson, this is a great addition to your DVD collection.

    Period piece stands up 40 years after its first airing.

    I loved this when it aired. I did not understand at the time why it was not picked up for a second season. Wating this again for the first time in 40 years, I still don't know. Hollywood, broadcast TV. Go figure.
