Replacement Caller ID Phone
Since I already owned this type of phone, I knew what to expect. Furthermore, I liked it enough to get another one! I got another phone like this because my old one didn't ring. Since Radio Shack went out of business, ordering parts or sending it in for service wasn't an option. I am now using this phone in my kitchen, and I kept my old one for spare parts. I like that the phone is fairly solidly constructed; it's not as solid as an old Western Electric phone (nothing is), but it's well built for a modern phone. I like that it has caller ID built into the phone itself; no separate caller ID box is necessary. That's why I originally got one of these phones decades ago. That's the best feature. The redial button also comes in handy. The phone has a flashing, red LED that notifies you of new ... Since I already owned this type of phone, I knew what to expect. You can scroll through the list of calls that came in since you checked them last, so you know who called, and when; you can clear this list too. Finally, this phone has an old school BELL for a ringer! This is good, because the sound carries better than an electronic ringer ever could. As for what could've been improved, there are three nits I have to pick with this phone. One is that the handset holder could be better; if the handset isn't placed in the hook just so, it'll fall on the floor. Two, the ringer volume has a switch that isn't always smooth; it's easy to select "high" when you really want the "low" volume setting for the ringer. Why didn't they use an adjustable volume control like the old Western Electric phones had? Finally, there's no sliding modular plug in the back of the phone like the old Western Electric phones had; this feature made it easy to just line up the plug, and slip the mounting holes over the studs on the wall mount. No, this phone has a short, male-male modular cable that you have to plug into the phone, coil it up in the small space provided, plug it into the wall mounted jack, then line everything up while hoping the little modular cable doesn't work its way out and get between the phone and the wall mount; it's a REAL PITA! Perhaps Radio Shack didn't do items two and three for patent reasons? Thankfully, you won't have to mount the phone all the time; once it's done, it's done for a long time. In closing, I like this phone; that's why I got it. I had one like it, but the ringer no longer worked. Also, the buttons didn't light up, either. It has built-in caller ID, which is the best feature of this phone; no separate caller ID box is necessary. It has a new call notification LED. However, the handset mount, the wall mount, and the ringer volume controls could be better. Overall, I like the phone, and I'm glad I was able to find a good replacement for my old one.

Old-style and heavy duty
We had an old Trimline wall phone in the kitchen and wanted to replace it with a caller ID-capable one. Finding a quality wired phone is pretty difficult nowadays--and finding a wall phone to fit iin a small space is even harder. This one fit the bill perfectly and is rugged and the display easy to read. Too bad it isn't made any more!
