Takes patience.
First of all I did go to Thailand on vacation, and saw some of the sights. So cast out ideas of a travel video here . You would never want to go to this country on vacation. This is a crime film set in an exotic land where bad things happen. The plot could be set anywhere in a third world country where corruption rules. Having said that, this is an entertaining film, that only strains your capacity to believe only up to 80% or so. Most bad guys get what they deserve, except for the hero whose complicity in evil does not get acknowledged. Sadly, there is no recompense for the victims seen in the opening segment of the film. It's as if the movie was more concerned about the life of the hero rather than what he did to others. So the hero goes on to do his thing and leave behind a ... Discovering that his mentor and the mastermind of the scheme, Marvin (James Caan), has skipped the country and gone to Thailand, Jimmy boards a plane with the intention of trying to collect his money. Once in Bangkok, Jimmy meets Joseph Kaspar (Stellan Skarsgård), a partner in the scheme who's living with his Thai katoey companion Rocky (Kyoza). Joseph informs Jimmy that Marvin has moved on to Cambodia, where he's planning an even greater scam. So Jimmy sneaks across the border and makes his way to ... Eventually, Marvin turns up, but the scam he's trying to get together – involving corrupt Cambodian government officials, high-ranking military and the Russian mafia – turns out to be more risky and dangerous than anyone ever imagined, taking Jimmy on a surreal odyssey where even the most polished criminal can end up on deadly ground.

In this movie, Dillon plays Jimmy Cremming who is headed to Bangkok, where he hopes to hide out after getting tangled up in an insurance fraud investigation. While there, he discovers that his mentor and partner in crime, Marvin (James Caan), is in a very dangerous Cambodia with the loot. All Jimmy wants is his fair share of the money, but the closer he gets to Marvin and his world, the crazier and the more dangerous that his life turns. The movie gives a good look at a time when Cambodia was very dangerous- and under communist/war lord control. It also has some exciting & suspenseful scenes and a method of a surprise ending, when Jimmy has a ... Definitely worth buying-especially at the reduced ebay cost.

A trip through wonderland to get to the bottom line.
Very trippy movie as Matt Dillon loses himself in a bizare Bangkok/Cambodian enviorment searcing for James Caan who plays the part of the elderly knowldgeable gangster very well but you dont realize that until the end. As Matt travels throught this chaos he finds out whats important in life. The director did a great job of giving you the sense that Matt was a stranger in a strange land by giving the movie that "Fear and Loathing in las Vegas" feel to it. Beautiful Natascha McElhone and Stellan Skarsgard are over here from the movie Ronin both doing there parts very well especially Skarsgard. An evocative movie, a film in glace. A good plot w an excellent James Caan inspired M.D. to show his stuff. He hasnt been this good since Flamingo Kid IMO. Beautiful cinematography. You will enjoy this one.
