Works well, and is convenient.
Replaced a Stihl gas powered trimmer with this item. So far, so good. Works well, with plenty of power. Did an hour's worth of trimming on the low setting with one battery, and still had a little charge left. Also, after reading several recommendations, I replaced the DeWalt trimmer head with a Husqvarna T-35 universal head. I discovered that when bumping this head for more line, more than necessary comes out, and I end up having to cut a little off each end so that the line doesn't tangle up with the guard. This is not really a game changer. I also clean the vent at the top of the motor of excess grass, so that it does not overheat. It is worth doing this compared to gas mixing and cord pulling. Great product, short 9ah battery life.
Great product. Disappointing battery life. Read several reviews that made it seem like one 9ah battery lasted 1hr plus. Four of the ones I bought consistently lasted only 20 minutes each. Great for a trimming whip, not for mature field grass.

It's a Beast !
This weed eater is a beast. I have another 20-volt weed eater that is ok but does not have the power my Dewalt has. The battery has plenty of power to do my whole lawn with some left over. I thought at first it would be too heavy, but it is well balanced and easy to handle. The low speed is really all I needed to mow through grass up to my knees, I only used the high speed once to see if it worked. I know there are other good brands of tools out there, but my drill and circular saw are all Dewalt and I have been happy with them. And now I can say I am happy with my new weed eater. This weed eater is a beast. I have another 20-volt weed eater that is ok but does not have the power my Dewalt has. The battery has plenty of power to do my whole lawn with some left over. I thought at first it would be too heavy, but it is well balanced and easy to handle. Beast Mode Trimmer
DeWALT created a monster. Forget about the batteries, this trimmer has enough torque to drain the operator of his power. I had never used cordless products before and wanted to make sure I had enough power to get the job done. Note to self - it has plenty of power. Nothing against DeWALT; their product is solid. This was a learning curve of an experience. Bottom line - this bad boy can tackle the toughest weeds. Just make sure you bring your A game to handle it. DeWALT created a monster. Heavy duty string trimmer
Very pleased with the operation, the quality of the build. I have four string trimmer‘s, and this unit stands up to the best! Nine amp hour battery issue gave me over an hour of fairly heavy trimming. Purchased two aftermarket 7 AM power batteries fully charged I couldn’t even get 15 minutes out of them. I do wish it was a 17 inch path instead of 15, but I can live with it. My biggest complaint is I could use a additional battery but under no circumstances will I pay the amount that Dewalt is charging!!!Very pleased with the operation, the quality of the build.
