Bei dem Nikon Nikkor AF-S 200mm f/2.0 VR IF ED G Objektiv handelt es sich um ein Tele-Objektiv, das sich vor allem für Nachtaufnahmen und Astrofotografie eignet. Das Nikon Objektiv passt auf alle digitalen und analogen Spiegelreflexkameras des Herstellers Nikon, die über einen Nikon F Bajonettanschluss und einen APS-C Bildsensor verfügen. Die Maße des Nikon Nikkor Objektivs liegen bei 203 mm in der Länge und 124 mm im Durchmesser, das Gesamtgewicht beträgt 2,9 kg. Es handelt sich um ein Objektiv mit einer nicht verstellbaren Festbrennweite von 200 mm. Die Naheinstellgrenze bei Aufnahmen mit dem Nikon Objektiv liegt bei 190 cm, somit eignet es sich auch für Nahaufnahmen. Aufgebaut ist das Tele-Objektiv von Nikon aus 13 Linsen, die in 9 Gliedern angeordnet sind. Die Linsen des Nikon Objektivs sind aus speziellem ED-Glas (extra low dispersion) angefertigt, dadurch wird die chromatische Aberration verringert und die Farbdarstellung der Aufnahmen ist natürlich. Ein eingebauter AF-Motor ermöglicht die schnelle und präzise automatische Fokussierung mit dem Objektiv von Nikon, jedoch ist auch die manuelle Fokussierung mit dem Objektiv möglich. Das Nikon Objektiv verfügt über 9 verschiedene Blendenlamellen, somit kann die Belichtungsintensität bei jeder Aufnahme individuell eingestellt werden. Bei der kleinsten Blende handelt es sich um eine 22er, die größte Blende ist eine 2er.
