      Good product, overkill for gamers, awesome for creators.

      I bought this mostly as an enthusiast upgrade. Playing games honestly barely touches it in terms of core usage, but anything multi-threaded that's cpu heavy, this thing can absolutely destroy. Medium recommendation for gamers - honestly, stop at an eight core chip, you'll never notice a difference. People like content creators or machine learning experimenters - this is the one you want. Only thing more powerful is a higher tier selection of ThreadRipper chips.

      3950x rocks

      3950x tests 19% below 5950x, but on eBay bought it for 29% lower price, so ahead on price vs performance curve. I paired this with a Noctua C type air cooler with 2 fans, and I'm having no heat issues at all - very stable temps, while it still ( just barely, but does ) fits within the width of a normal mid-tower ATX. Lastly, it extracted better memory timings from my memory sticks than my 2400g it replaced could. Same memory, now 10% faster!

      One of the Best options right now!

      Based on early tests, this 16 core processor appears to outperform the upcoming 12 core 5900X which will be priced at 549. It t lags a little behind the soon to be released the 5950X, which will be priced at 750-800. This seemed like the most logical choice for getting the most bang, for a few extra bucks, option. Good temps and performance so far!

      Amazing processor. Cores everywhere!

      Amazing processor! I have more power than I need, honestly. It does not overclock like an Intel processor, so keep that in mind if you are using it for mostly gaming.

      Chip nice, but everything around it is not ready.

      Nothing wrong with the chip. It screams. The problem is with the surrounding software and chipsets. It's all so new that it's all buggy and about as flaky as a good pie crust. The AMD software (AMD Ryzen Master) appears to be the only set of tweaking software that currently works with it. Got my high-end MSI MEG ACE X570 board working with it, only to find out that the motherboard crashes after a few hours. Sigh... bleeding edge is sometimes painful...
