    Audio Technica ATH-AD900X Open-Air Headphones

These headphones fulfill a need in my living room. There are times when I want to hear what is going on in the conversation yet also hear the dialogue on the computer. For that purpose, they can't be beat. The sound quality that they reproduce is excellent; However, if you want headphones that deliver DEEP BASE you may be disappointed. These don't cut it. I am spoiled by my Def Tech 3000 speakers, with their 18" powered subwoofers, so that may explain my jadedness. I have yet to find good headphones costing less than $300, and even then they could all use an adjustable preamp for different recording styles. Just the techie in me, I guess.

  • great headphones for a really good price now, low bass which can be fixed with an aplifier. you need an amp or a stereo system to really enjoy them.

highly recommend for games, great treble, designed for vocals but has a fantastic sound all around. weak bass. these headphones requires a stereo system or an amp with a bass boost to get them really going, they leak sound so watch out. you can seach them on youtube and their reviews are accurate regarding what they are.

  • Great non-traditional headphones

I say non-traditional because I thought to get good sound I need heavy, solid, uncomfortable headphones. I have a pair of those that sound great, but can't wear for more than a half hour w/o my ears hurting and getting hot. This set loses a little bass compared to the closed type, but the trade-off is more than worth it. The highs and mids are great, and they sound less isolated than the ATH-MSR7s that I own, and they ARE COMFORTABLE! You really can only use them if you plan to sit and listen to music. They are too loose to do anything involving movement, especially exercise, with them on. This is why they are so comfortable (for me); they don't squeeze your head and block your ears to the extent of causing pressure and heat buildup. I find the sound pretty neutral (or not ...

  • Great "airy" sounding headphones. Really comfortable. A bit unruly cable.

I bought a factory refurbished set from buydig via eBay. They arrived in a plain box, wrapped in a sheet of foam on the plastic insert in the retail packaging. I can't tell that they have been used before (if they even have been). Ok, so now with that out of the way - the sound. I should say I've only run these a bit more than twenty hours as of yet, but as they are refurbished maybe they've run longer in reality. I'm going to start of with saying I'm really fond of the sound of the AD900X's. It's got a really wide an crisp kind of sound, with a fair amount of bass. The question of bass was one of the things I was a bit worried about when buying these headphones, since the reviews I found said they were primarily good for vocals mid's and ...

  • Awesome Headphones

After trying a pair of these, AD700, A700, A900, Grado SR-60's and £850 Grado RS1's I decided on the ad900, personally I prefer the sound of these open headphones to the closed version (a900) but its always worth checking them out in person if possible (if in London try shasonics on Tottenham court road ;)) sadly I could tell the difference between these and the RS-1 however I feel the difference is very small and not worth the extra cash in my opinion, and on my budget ;) The difference between these phones and the lower end AD700 is quite noticeable with more detail and less clashing in the highs in particular Aesthetics: these things look and feel awesome, if a little delicate and are super light In conclusion a fantastic pair of headphones and I'm really ...
