A little pricey for a solid state amp, but sounds better than any other solid state that I have heard.
I love the sound of my Acoustic Electric guitars thru this amp. I added one of the custom made foot switch pedals with the 3 buttons with LED lights which adds functionality. The distortion is usable, but not great, but if you turn down the treble, it is usable, and can add some sustain. It is light enough to carry around, and is very versatile with the stereo inputs. The effects loop can also input in stereo and can be mixed with the amps effects or not.I love the sound of my Acoustic Electric guitars thru this amp. Perfect Amp for clean tones
This Amp packs a huge punch for 40 watts. Clean tones sound spectacular, and built in reverb, vibrato, and chorus are a delight. Haven't used distortion that much however. One thing I noticed is that the Amp makes a not so loud low frequency noise when on and makes a pop sound when turning it on. Other than those minor annoyances it's a great Amp.

Lightweight with great features.
I love the clean sound,chorus, and even the distortion sounds good to my ears.Best amp I have ever had. For a little brother to the JC-120 it is loud .I play in a church and am so pleased that i can use my lexicon Mpx g2 in stereo for additional effects. I don`t know why I waited so long to get this JC-40.

Crank it up! I love the snappy attack when I crank up the Master volume to about 4-6. Wow! It’s LOUD too! Funk guitar heaven. This amp was made for funk, soul, R&b, jazz…anything really. It also imparts more character and distinctive charm than I would have imagined from a solid state amp. Plays very nice with Pedals. Rock solid construction. No joke. What I most love is how the JC seems to emphasize the Stratiness of my Stratocaster. I’ve played many amps over the years. I’m very pleased to have finally landed on the Roland JC-40. Crank it up! Clean machine!
This is a clean machine ! Works great with pedals. Highly recommend putting a compressor in the effects loop. Still have lots to learn dialing in my pedals but the stock tones are fantastic. I’d highly recommend this amp.
