About this product

Product Information

AMC presents four movies separately featuring four major American film actresses (Marilyn Monroe, Joan Crawford, Bette Davis, and Barbara Stanwyck), individually described below:HOMETOWN STORY (1947) - A defeated politician (Jeffrey Lynn) takes over a newspaper and uses it to attack his tycoon rival (Donald Crisp). Iris (Marilyn Monroe) works for the newspaper.OF HUMAN BONDAGE (1934) - Having unsuccessfully tried his hand at painting in Paris, Philip Carey (Leslie Howard, who later played Ashley Wilkes in GONE WITH THE WIND) returns home to London. Despite his clubfoot, Philip overcomes his awkwardness and pursues a medical career. He becomes obsessed with a gruffly abusive Cockney waitress, Mildred Rogers (Bette Davis), intent on taking him for all he's worth and psychologically torturing him while she's at it. Davis is spectacular as the repulsive Mildred, while Howard's quiet, suffering gentleman furthered his own reputation as an outstanding performer.RAIN (1932) - A San Francisco prostitute (a shockingly beautiful and charismatic young Joan Crawford) arrives on sultry Pago Pago Island and ends up in a tangle with a hypocritical reverend (Walter Huston), who eventually rapes her.LADY OF BURLESQUE (1943) - The behind-the-scenes shenanigans of a burlesque show set the stage for this mixture of comedy, music, sex appeal, and murder. While sardonic comedian Biff Brannigan (Michael O'Shea) constantly hits on lead stripper Dixie Daisy (Barbara Stanwyck), she continually rejects him. Meanwhile, as the other performers reveal ugly competitive streaks, someone is found strangled with a G-string. Then a second victim falls prey to the mysterious killer. Biff and Dixie soon realize that they have only each other to trust in the search for the killer's identity. Deft direction and lush production numbers keep the whole thing sprightly, and the screenplay is based on the novel THE G-STRING MURDERS by famous stripper Gypsy Rose Lee.

  • Poor quality and it skips. And it gets stuck to where it won't even go to another movie

The problem with the movie is it skips so bad that I can't even watch most of it. The first disc I was only be able to watch half of the first movie because it wouldn't play the rest of the movies. Not a good purchase I'm sorry
