Product Information

A young woman from New York named Liza (Katherine MacColl) inherits a Louisiana motel that has been unoccupied for nearly 60 years. While restoring the old building, many of the workers meet mysterious and untimely deaths, each more ill-fated than the next. Furthermore, Liza is visited by a blind specter named Emily (Sarah Keller) who lectures from a 4000-year-old book of collected prophecies that explains the motel is situated above one of seven portals to hell. As her sanity dwindles, Liza finds some much-needed stability in a local doctor named John McCabe (David Warbeck), who is determined to find a rational explanation for the recent state of affairs. Nevertheless, the protagonists are led through a maze of bizarre confrontations with beings beyond the realm of the living, and into an apocalyptic world of unknown horrors. THE BEYOND is at once the quintessential Lucio Fulci film and a staple in the overall Italian horror genre. The director's epic masterpiece is a blend of atmospheric surrealism and nightmarish visions (a grisly tarantula attack, flesh-melting acid spills, a softball-sized gun blast through the skull of a young zombified girl, and an eyeball impaling, or two) that are definitely unsuitable for those with weak stomachs.

    One of the best the 70’s ha to offer

    While there are other transfers out there with greater resolution and more stunning picture quality this one will still satisfy those wishiyto see this Fulci masterpiece of modern horror.

    Disappointing and boring. D+

    Unlike Fulci's movie "Zombi 2", this movie barely had any undead in it until the latter part of the movie. Then when you did see them, they were basically a copy of the zombies on "Zombi 2". Him attempting to mix the ghostly with the undead is not a mix that works, at all. Basically the movie is just boring, slow and plodding, with an unsatisfying ending. Not Fulci's best work to be sure.

    the 7 doors of death

    I LOVE THIS MOVIE- Fulchi is probably my favorite italian director ( it's close next to rgento and the Bava's) but this is his gem, in my opinion. Zombi is fantastisc as well- but of the gates of hell trilogy- this is in my opinion the best all arond, i only wish i had gotten ' the beyond' instead- this version is 9 minutes shorter that the remastered ' beyond' rehaul, i may just have to have both copies :)

    great gore movie

    This is another classic from horror movie master Lucio Fulci. Has great gore scenes and some disturbing violence. This movie is mysterious and frightening. Moves along faster then most fulci films. Recommended for people who like good old fashion horror with style.
