Product Information

In a dreary English seaside town, one of it's timid inhabitants, known as LV (Little Voice), mourns over her dead father and obsesses over his record collection by singing along to his favorite performers. Her rare talents for emulating the dulcet tones of Judy Garland, Marilyn Monroe, and Shirley Bassey are soon discovered by her dominant mother's boyfriend, a small-time showbiz agent. Their attempts to propel her to stardom are at first successful when the local town gets to see her perform. However, LV is soon wise to their selfish intentions and withdraws from performing again, thus forcing an emotional showdown between the three.

Unbelievable voice
The characters were wonderful and horrible at the same time. The story moves at a good pace. Jane Horrocks is an incredible talent. I had to have this little gem in my collection.

I just got my dvd, haven't watched it yet but I don't care! I've worn my VHS copy out already! This movie is a must-see. Forget "Gone With the Wind" or all that other Hollywood B-Movie schlock! See this movie for Bubbles alone! And Michael Caine. And Brenda Blethyn! (Though you may want to have the subtitle button at the ready in case you have a mite of trouble understanding her accent. Even so, she gets the dialogue across even if you can't understand it all! LOL!) There are two soundtracks as well, one with the classic singers & 2 Jane Horrocks songs, and an entire album of Jane Horrocks, with duets with Ewan McGregor, Dean Martin (isn't he dead?) and Robbie Williams. Little Voice (2003, DVD)
I loved "Little Voice". It`s easily one of my favorite movies. I thought that the leading performers were quirky. They were all very good. It was very funny especially when things didn`t go right for Michael Caine and he sang the old Roy Orbison song `It`s Over` while cursing between the lines. He did that so well. Brenda Blethyn was terrific. In this movie she did a northern accent. I have also seen her do a cockney accent in another movie. Which makes me wonder what her true speaking voice is like. She`s certainly very talented. I was also surprised that Jane Horrocks did her own singing impersonations which were amazing.
