About this product

Product Information

In this novel in the #1 New York Times bestselling Dresden Files, Chicago's only professional wizard takes on a case for a vampire and becomes the prime suspect in a series of ghastly murders. Harry Dresden has had worse assignments than going undercover on the set of an adult film. Like fleeing a burning building full of enraged demon-monkeys, for instance. Or going toe-to-leaf with a walking plant monster. Still, there's something more troubling than usual about his newest case. The film's producer believes he's the target of a sinister curse--but it's the women around him who are dying, in increasingly spectacular ways. Harry's doubly frustrated because he only got involved with this bizarre mystery as a favor to Thomas--his flirtatious, self-absorbed vampire acquaintance of dubious integrity. Thomas has a personal stake in the case Harry can't quite figure out, until his investigation leads him straight to the vampire's oversexed, bite-happy family. Now, Harry's about to discover that Thomas' family tree has been hiding a shocking secret: a revelation that will change Harry's life forever.

The supporting cast is again fantastic, and Harry's wit continues to fly in the face of a peril-fraught plot."-- Booklist (starred review)   "What's not to like about this series'...It takes the best elements of urban fantasy, mixes it with some good old-fashioned noir mystery, tosses in a dash of romance and a lot of high-octane action, shakes, stirs, and serves."-- SF Site   "A tricky plot complete with against-the-clock pacing, firefights, explosions, and plenty of magic. Longtime series fans as well as newcomers drawn by the SciFi Channel's TV series based on the novels should find this supernatural mystery a real winner."-- Library Journal   "What would you get if you crossed Spenser with Merlin? • Nice Brain Candy

If you're looking for a brilliant Hemingway-like read, none of the Dresden books are the ticket. But if you're looking for some fun escapism, well, these are the books for you. The first four are the best of the series, at least so far. Blood Rites goes deeper into the relationship between Harry, a wizard P.I., and Thomas, a run-of-the-mill White Court vampire. The story is interesting enough--I won't give it away--but the characterization is total barf. It's as if the author forgot that Harry and Thomas are two different people. Occasionally, even Murphy, a cop with Special Investigations who knows all about Harry, has that one-liner schtick thing going on. I expect that from Harry. That's why I read the books. Harry is a big goofy wizard. I even expect that from Thomas, a ...

  • A Great Dresden Files Tale

If you have followed Butcher's Dresden series up til this point, then this book is a MUST read! Of course, Chicago's famous wizard for hire, Harry Dresden is at it again. This time the backdrop is the adult film industry. However, what happens here has nothing to do with sex films! Drafted to help by his vampire friend, Thomas, Harry has no idea the family rivalry he has just stumbled upon. Nor could he possibly comprehend the magnitude of it's effect on those he holds dear. In this book, a bombshell is dropped on Harry. Find out which dark secrets have made it to the surface and how his past has come back to haunt him.

  • Rapid Shipment to Feed the Need...

I'm a bookworm, for sure. I also grew up with television, from the earliest days. As a TV, movie and book buff (who happens to host a nationally broadcast book show) when I find a great TV show derived from a book series, I want to own all the books in that series. And when that happens, as it did with the Jim Butcher Dresden Files series, I think of only one place on Earth to go shopping for the books. And that place is Ebay... The one-stop-shop place to fuel your personal library.
