Solved the problem. Reach functions normal and quiet. Reach Cable was over 1/4" longer than what I removed and fit perfectly when the motor bracket was set to the closest setting to the reach screw. just a note that my reach cable on my '03 XK8 did not break. I shut the auto reach function off when it began making dragging noises and the column struggled to reach. Since the cable didn't break, there was no concern of damage to the sensor or position. Simple replace.
