About this product

Product Information

When a group of writers loses a member, a summer spent sorting through her things offers the perfect escape for the friends who loved and miss her. Sable has everything and her bestselling novels have made her a star. But she has a past she is desperate to hide. Elly is an intellectual who has hidden herself within the walls of academia, afraid to admit she is tired of being alone. Barbara Ann is the talent behind twenty-six romance novels, but she's lost control of her career and her family. Beth's popular mysteries have become the only way she can fight against the secret tyranny of an abusive husband. Gathering in Gabby's house on Olive Street, away from their troubles, the four women discover something wonderful: themselves. And together they realize a dream. For, in telling the story of a remarkable woman, their own stories begin to change.

Reviews
"The four women are wonderfully human, non-cardboard characters who deal with the little - and sometimes big - struggles of life and find succor and support in one another." --All About Romance, on THE HOUSE ON OLIVE STREET "Sweet and heart-felt...filled with women's friendships, love and family. Each character is well-constructed and multi-dimensional -- you feel as if you've known them for a long time.... A story that shows the importance of meaningful friendships and how women can empower not only themselves, but each other." --Always with a Book, on THE HOUSE ON OLIVE STREET "Brimming with insight, tender sensuality, sympathetic characters, and family anxiety, this story blends painful realities with healing love in a strong, uplifting tale that will lure both women's fiction and romance fans."-Library Journal, starred review, on The View from Alameda Island "This is well-crafted women's fiction, where the emotional journey is paramount, and the satisfying focus on Lauren's innermost feelings and thoughts does not disappoint."-BookTrib on The View from Alameda Island "The summer flies by as old wounds are healed, new alliances are formed, and lives are changed forever... With strong relationship dynamics, juicy secrets, and a heartwarming ending, it's a blissful beach read." --Kirkus Reviews on The Summer That Made Us "A layered, well-paced plot and flawed, three-dimensional characters whom readers will care about make this a quick and entertaining read for those who relish contemporary family sagas with strong female characters as well as readers who like their stories tinged with romance." -Library Journal on The Life She Wants "A satisfying reinvention story that handles painful issues with a light and uplifting touch." -Kirkus Reviews on The Life She Wants "This novel of sisters and secrets has a pleasant setting, a leisurely pace, and a sweet story line...that will please fans of Carr's Virgin River series. Themes of responsibility, forgiveness, and the agony and ecstasy of female relatives will appeal to readers of Debbie Macomber and Susan Wiggs." -Booklist on THE SUMMER THAT MADE US, "Sweet and heart-felt...filled with women's friendships, love and family. • An Author to Remember

This book is quite different from the others I have read by Robyn Carr. It is definitely a "Stand alone book". Several women form a writers group and bounce ideas off each other. Each one has personal problems that cause them to take up residency in one house. This is a book I highly recommend if you like Robyn Carr.
