Book was perfectly described by the seller and delivered fast, over a holiday weekend no less. Without a doubt, the best packaging on a book, new or used, that I have ever seen. I'm a perfectionist when it comes to such details and the seller impressed even me!! I would not hesitate to purchase from him again. Note to seller: Thanks Don, this Coastie ('74-'78) will enjoy this keepsake book for sure.

  • Keeps your Interest

I really enjoyed the book. It gives you a good idea of what it must have been like to be there. I myself left Ft. Lewis Washington for Da Nang Air Base, but by true Army fashion ended up in Germany. Didn't upset me none. GOOD READ

  • Weak

Rattler by Gross. This book is a waste. It is totally boring. The cry baby author complains about not getting Thanksgiving off. Worst nam book i ever read. And yes I was there from 8-15-68 to 8-15-69. A Nelson.

  • It tells it like it was.

I was a crew chief in the same unit, 71st AHC, from late November of 1970 till the end of April 1971 and was also a member of the first platoon. I even flew with Mr. Gross a few time. This book tells the story of what it really was like. I just came across it about a week ago. I brought back many memories fro me, more good than bad. I made it through my Vietnam tour because of the great members of the Rattlers that it was my great fortune to serve with. My AC was Mr. Albrect, Rattler 1-1.

  • A must have for "Hueys in Vietnam" fans!!

A excellent portrait of what was the daily life of a chopper pilot in Vietnam, the doubts of a "newbie" in a combat zone, the process of getting better flying skills and the learning of how to deal with commanders and the loss of friends, and all this away from the family support!! A really life change experience!!

  • worth reading

it's a good book, there's not many vietnam books that i haven't read, so i feel i know what i'am talking about.
