Product Information

When you start your Briggs & Stratton engine, you create a spark in the magneto that travels through the coil and along a wire to the spark plug. This fires inside the combustion chamber to ignite the gas, which powers the engine. If you are pulling the rope repeatedly and getting no spark, this part is probably the problem. This kit replaces the magneto, the coil, and the wire.

    So far working great.

    Received the item quickly and the part was a straight drop-in replacement on my 8.5 HP Briggs engine. Only issue was the spark plug lead was a bit longer than the original. But that was easy to shorten the cable since I had the right tool to crimp a new plug connector on the end. After the install, the engine fired up on the first start. Hopefully this replacement coil will end the hard start issue when hot that I have been having of late. Original coil is 24 years old, maybe it was time to replace it.

    Doesn't work - incorrect fit - previously used

    I ordered two...just in case. Both arrived looking like they had been previously installed. Neither one would work on my Briggs and Stratton engine - Yard Machine riding mower. They wouldn't even fit correctly. Small piece of plastic case was broken on one. The metal plates were bent on the other. I waited a month for these to arrive from Hong Kong. Lesson learned. Never again.

    Strong spark, Easy upgrade

    I used this in place of the original points, condenser, and coil on a 40 yr old 8 hp B&S snowblower. It produces a strong spark and the engine is running just dandy on day one. So far it seems to be an inexpensive easy upgrade that I recommend doing. The spark plug wire is much longer than I needed but might be necessary to certain applications. I'd prefer to avoid these "made in China" parts, but so far, so good and I'm not sinking big money into antique equipment.

    Electronic Ignition Upgrade

    Upgrades to electronic ignition, my old 16hp Briggs... While I don't have an issue with points on old motors, someone got into this one before me, and this seems to be an easy fix. Time will tell...

    Ignition coil for small Briggs & Stratton engine.
