Onimusha 3 Demon Siege Review
So if you have played onimusha 1 and 2 and are looking for the next thing in that line to fill your satisfaction for you, this will be the one you want. If you have played Onimusha Dawn of Dreams, however, I wouldn't move to this game next as it will feel like a major downgrade. I'll keep it simple and do a pros and cons. Pros: Unlike 1 and 2 you get two characters to control, though you still control them at separate times, (pun intended) Both characters function differently enough to be compelling There is a new mechanic called Ako vests which are a majorly awesome upgrade on how to play, though they function similarly to the necklaces in 2 but with more variety to their effects. At a certain point you can warp across characters and use a store system to transfer items, in case you are ... So if you have played onimusha 1 and 2 and are looking for the next thing in that line to fill your satisfaction for you, this will be the one you want. The weapons and armors only upgrade to level 3 which, like 2, makes the reason to explore the game/grind at a certain point completely worthless. Enemies are varied but some are seemingly unfair against one or the other character Overall it's a very decent buy if you are looking for something to pick up. 3.5/5

I've been a long time Onimusha fan ever since I picked up the first one that came out for Playstation 1 several years ago. I've always liked the highly detailed graphics, and more importantly, the unique and original storyline and character concepts. Onimusha 3: As the game begins you start right off the bat by being hurled into the middle of combat! An exciting way to start the game off! You gradually during the fights learn the basic controls: movement, blocking, using your sword, shooting the arrows with your bow and the Demon Gauntlet which absorbs the souls of Demons (and when the right number is reached Samanosuke transforms into Onimusha)! The game starts off at a fair difficulty level, what threw me off for a loop was when Samonosuke gets transported into THE FUTURE IN PARIS, ... I've been a long time Onimusha fan ever since I picked up the first one that came out for Playstation 1 several years ago. O_o That was a shocker, since the game normally takes place in the Sengoku Jidai of Japan. I have to say that I didn't like it too much, with the story jumping into a very strange direction. The character Jacques Blanc from modern day France that you play as a co-op mode along side Samonosuke, that idea was cool, but didn't he look oddly familiar? Like the American-French actor who played as the "cop" in Godzilla perhaps? I'm talking about Jean Reno, doesn't Jacques look identical? I thought that was interesting, odd though. It flows out pretty smoothly, after the main samurai hero is in France and is battling the Demon horde that have attacked the humans. As well as using Jacques to use his handgun firing at the many Demons. You'll never know who shows their butt-ugly face again, Guildenstern...gah, that freakish Demon is back after a long time! To make matters worse he brought, or should I say made, a new "toy". Brainstern is one nasty peice of work...it fires relentless rounds of bullets at Samanosuke right in the start! Then it attacks with super charged attacks and missels. I still haven't beaten that character yet . it's wayyy harder than it looks. I certainly didn't care for that character! All in all the game isn't that bad, it just started off really hard. I didn't care to much for the transportation to modern day France though, I prefer the game to take place in the Sengoku Jidai. The graphics are great, the story is interesting, the added bonuses are always cool, the characters are unique and it's nice to see Samanosuke back again in action.

A couple hours of fun
After playing Onimusha 3, there are several readily apparent good and bad qualities to the game. The gameplay was good, although comparing it to games like Devil May Cry or Ninja Gaiden especially, it's not the best. The story, although containing some interesting quirks, like being able to affect puzzles in the present by changing something in the past, isn't all that interesting. The emotional "side story" between Henri and Michelle (Jean Reno's character's son and wife-to-be) is too predictable and had me bored. However, the character designs and backgrounds were well-detailed for a ps2 game, and the music, while predictable, was well-done. Although I've done not much besides nit-pick, I'm going to finish by saying that this was, as my rating suggests, a good game. If you've already ... Review: Onimusha 3: Demon Siege

The occasional chance to play with Michelle's rifle- and SMG-based style also goes a long way toward keeping things fresh. jacques' long range weapons gives the player a more catious fighting style approach. while samanoske who mostly weilds swords and blades gives the player a more up close and personal fighting style. not to mention jacques being able to do certian ablilities like hooking on to mechanical fireflies to gain access to different parts of areas. the story sadly,is pretty monotonous. the voice acting for the most part is decent but the dialog at times can feel really cheesy and cheap(and cliched). onimusha has never had the best storylines but between all the time traveling and the paradoxes,it can be kinda difficult to keep up with what's going on at times. the replay value is moderaly high with loads of content to be unlocked which can only be achieved by fulfilling ranks after completing the game which helps add a challeng to the game. onimusha 3 can feel like your standard run-of-the-mill action game. but only if you let it be.

This is a phenominal game that combines survival horror with a hack and slah of a ninja game with a comples story line and CGI movies of an RPG. You MUST get this game if you are a fan of arcade style hack and slash and love RPG's. The only weird thing is you get to control a Frenchman as you jump back and forth through time.
