works on win 10. have too follow story line to get to use more planes but thats OK. after you finish game you can mess with it and shot up all you want. Also you can just choose dog fights and use any plane. not bad for just arcade fun.

Astonished novice! Yet great for advance flyers too!
I have been meaning to buy one of the flight simulating softwares for about 20 years when my former girlfriend's father used probably one of the first one of these softwares on a Mac computer in the late 80's. Back then it was very elementary keyboard keys that manipulated the flight and it was complicated. So I decided to wait a while to get a more sophisticated one...I didn't expect to wait this long. But nevertheless, I got this first one of these in the late 2---'s and wish I got this sooner. However, with the high definition flatscreen I use as a monitor my flying experience is remarkable. Luckily the developers allow for upgrades to high end monitor in the system options menu (a simple a click away) from changing. What I like with this program a lot is how this program allows you ... What I like with this program a lot is how this program allows you to pan your view out the left or right window simply by moving the mouse to the left or right. And by far the coolest features are the monitor view by using a few of the F keys on top of your keyboard. There is the plane tail view "camera" which allows you to see your plane from about 100 feet behind the tail. But my favorite which makes this totally coooool!!!!!! Is the F key that you can during flight that gives you a fly by perspective. Which is essentially seeing your plane from the front at about 100 yards and then it flys by the camera much like one of those cool Nascar cameras that you see mounted next to the race track. Then your can see it fly into an infinity into the horizon rear shot. In addition they were genius it having the audio coincide with what is going on with the visuals which makes this perspective look and sound so cool. I sometimes will hit this F key about 10+ times and groove on this rapid repeat of fly by!!! Its enough hot camera perspective to make Martin Scorsese green with envy! I picked this up for next to nothing since its considered old already but if you can buy it on ebay I am sure it will be well worth it especially if its less than 10 dollars!

I've been a long time fan of all WWII airplanes and dogfighting. It's REALLY hard to find ANY dogfighting games availalble, therefore any "good" ones are even tougher to find. I ranked this game as "good" instead of "excellent", but let me explain in a little more detail. The game does a pretty good job in the visual arena; I've got an older box (P4 3.2Ghz,1Gb,GeForce 7600GT card) and it runs without a hitch. The problems I have are a little more with the "feel" of the game. 1st, I know the Sturmovik is a Russian plane-that's a big "duh", and realism is great and stuff,but do the designers have to be so "faithful to realism" that they code all the gauges and dials in Cyrillic ??? Most of the controls are instinctive and you can pick them up w/o a hitch, but some of the planes are just ... I've been a long time fan of all WWII airplanes and dogfighting. When you can't read the dials, you've taken "reaslism" just a little too far IMO. Controlling the aircraft is a little bigger of a gripe for me. I'm using a Logitech Extreme3DPro stick w/ no "rudder pedals". This is where it gets frustrating... the "twist" is alwasys set for your rudder control and in flight, this causes real problems in terms of control b/c your wrist will "twist" naturally when you perform just about ANY stick movements; I finally had to completely disable this and TRY to set the rudder ctrl onto the keyboard - this isn't ideal either, but it's a little better. Setting the rudder controls is just "odd" anyways (there's Left,Right, Full Left, Full Right, and Center; what's the differences? maybe you could tell me b/c they all seem to act either strangely or not at all. In general, the "flight" realism is just slightly off and it makes for a frustrating learning curve. The "missions": The missions can be seriously tough with a steep learning curve! Not only do you have to fly the plane from course point to course point (thank GOD for the time-warp feature!) until you get a message saying MISSION FAILURE --- as to WHY you failed, good luck figuring that out... you were probably supposed to perform some odd "cover-fire" for something you can't even see or drop a bomb on a bridge (you'll get to try that one a few hundred times until luck finally prevails....) Just plain old Buttkicking: you can set up the game to pit you or your squad (sometimes almost "intelligent") against as many as 16 opponents. To me, this is where the game gets just plain old fashioned FUN! You have ALOT of great planes to choose from, all with different flight trims and (again, if "realism" is your "altar of gaming") you can set it for realistic ammo levels, spins, stalls, blackouts/redouts, blah... until it WILL really test your abilities!!! My favorites are the quick and dirty "knife-fight" scenarios with my 1 plane against 8 opponents (2 elements of 4 planes), unlimited ammo, but leaving everything else alone. IL-2 is a really fun game to practice your skills on, but sometimes it can REALLY irritate you b/c of the control settings. I still think it's "good" just because it's NOT an arcade level peice of trash, but it's not so detailed where you'd better crack open your "FAA Basic Flight Manual" to have a good time. But even so, prepare to be at least a little frustrated - the learning curve is still steep!

Realistic Flight Simulator WW2
Really cool game. Works with Windows XP even though it is an older game. Joystick controls also work although some ratings say it's for a mouse only. This is about as realistic as you can get sitting at your computer flying a Russian WW2 fighter. Several planes available and really nice graphics. Allows user to set up their own dogfight with up to 16 enemy planes. I have the Microsoft WW2 Fight Sim Europe edition also. This game is similiar to that, although the Microsoft game is a little easier to use. Overall a great game, especially for the price and age.Really cool game. IL-2 Sturmovik PC Game is a good buy!
I enjoy the game when I play it as it is very realistic and flying the planes basically one of the finest Combat simulations I have played on a PC. I only have one issue and the seller did not mention the requirements in his listing only that it is a PC game. The game will work in a Windows XP as that is what I have but, when shutting the game down it crashes my windows and restarts the PC abruptly. My recomendation to the seller is to list the game works with Windows 95,98 and Millenium only. That is what it says in the recomendations and Requirments on the game. Otherwise it is an awsome game and I recomend to anyone with the listed required system to buy it as it is a need for those gamers with the systems it works on.I enjoy the game when I play it as it is very realistic and flying the planes basically one of the finest Combat simulations I have played on a PC.
