Truly an A-Z primer to Southwest Pottery

This is an excellent book that has come highly recommended by collectors of Pueblo pottery. The writers are two collectors who have a refreshing and cost-effective strategy for buying Native American pottery--buy what you like, and don't spend too much. (Judging by some of the pieces they acquired by well-known artists, I think they must've broken their own rule a couple of times--although they did find some amazing deals here and there!) The photos are wonderful, and the groupings are thoughtful and well-explained. Overall, a wonderful book for anyone interested in collecting Pueblo pottery!

  • Great book on American Indian Pottery

I purchased this book in order to learn about pottery made by American Indians. This book is written in a manner that is easy to read and understand. Also, there are many pictures to represent the many groups that are displayed in the book. An excellent source for referencing American Indian pottery. I would buy the book again and would recommend for those wanting to start collecting American Indian pottery. The problem that I saw with the book is that if you do not live in the Southwest, one might have a difficult time in obtaining American Indian pottery.

  • excellant referance

no matter how many books I buy on Indian pottery I always find something new . Thank you

  • Southwestern Pottery by Allan Hayes, John Blom (1996)

Is a beautifully illustrated book on the History of Southwestern Pottery. The information about each style, who made it and how it was done is very detailed and extremely interesting. For anyone interested in the History of the Native Americans different types of pottery, this is a great resource book and at the same time a really interesting read.
