Top Gun: Combat Zones(GameCube)
This is a very entertaining game, with many levels set in vietnam like jungles, Iraq like desserts and cities and Russia cities and artic zones. The game uses real planes and resonably realalistic missions. You have allies sometimes, but do not fly in a sqaudern. Also you can take a lot more damage then in real life.Their is no decrease in preformance when damaged.Still a really cool game though fight fighter jets, shot down bombers, bomb enemy facilaties take out tanks, ships,scud missile trucks, gunboats, trains, tons of enemy helicopters and anti-aircraft guns. Grafics were very good for the time,but not great. Good for a GC Flight SIM, but not that much...
Top Gun Combat Zones is a plane lover's dream. Brought to you by Titus, this game features targets not easily hit and schools not easily passed. But, no game is perfect. Let us look over this game from a non- optimistic or non-pessimistic fashion. Game play-5/10 This part has it's hits and misses. First of all, the controls were pretty good. And the ability to shoot down bases and auto shooters was a great flight experience. But the secondary weapons were too limited. The number of targets were too numerous. The schools were a little bit too hard to pass. I did not like the game play because it gave a non-simulation stint, leaving me feeling fooled. It was great for me to see the targets almost perfectly. Although the camera was excellent, the graphics were not very good. Alot of the canyons were square and blocky. All the explosions look the same. And the cities were too square. I was shocked to see ( with a very good camera! ) that the graphics were very poor. Next time, I wish Titus would lean more toward the graphics side. Replay ability-4/10 Because of the repetitive game play, long duration, and the boredom factor, it isn't really worth replaying the game. And because of no cheats, the replay ability factor is somewhat lacking. Next time, Titus should add some cheats to make the game funner. Game play-5/10 Graphics/Visuals-6/10 Replay ability-4/10 Overall-5/10 Rent or Buy factor In my personal option, I would rent before buying. If you like it, buy it. But if you don't like it, don't buy it. Conclusion This is not a bad game, although it is making some crucial misses. Final score-5/10

So Good I have to keep going back to Old School (GameCube)
If you love flying games, this one's about as good as it gets. There is a dearth of flying games lately, so I'm sticking to the "old school" Top Gun for the Gamecube. It IS a challenge. Dont expect that your jet will fly like a toy that never crashes, or makes a 20g impossible turn. Some of the Eras take a while to work through, find a good pattern, and complete. And it's an EXTREME challenge to get Gold on any level. You'll need to achieve higher end planes to get THAT job done. No mulitplayer, no online (it's GameCube, after all) but perhaps some developer will decide to NOT make a bloody first person shooter game, and will instead capture those with the heart of a pilot out there, and make a decent comparable experience for the Xbox360 soon. Great game!!!!
I recently purchased Top Gun: Combat Zones for Game Cube for my husband. The game is just what he needed. The game play itself is excellent. The graphics are awesome. I'm not sure who love the game more him or my kids. Compared to some of the other battle sims I've seen this one is top notch.
