    The best streaming music system there was

    I've had a Squeezebox Duet since they came out, back in 2008. I was seriously impressed by it when I first got it, and almost a decade later I still am (and am possibly more so, given how long has passed since it was made). It is (or was -- sadly it's not been manufactured for some time) a fantastic streaming music system, similar to -- but much, much better value than -- Sonos or the like. I have ~5,000 albums in my collection and Squeezebox (Logitech Media Server) copes with that volume just fine, running on a remarkably cheap Raspberry Pi 3 B+ box plus USB hard-disk (so, less than £100 all-in), serving 3 Duet systems around the house. Logitech's decision to discontinue the Squeezebox-based system is still utterly baffling -- it beat (or at least equals) all the current ...

    When running well the quality and funtionality is the best value for money.

    Already have a fair bit of experience using this product and accept its shortcomings. Suffice it to say that am not inclined to try an alternative music streaming system. Like most wifi products I have tried this product takes some learning to live with and is less than 100% reliable at least when limited by sub 2mb broadband, limited wifi hub power and unfavourable house geometry. When running well the sound quality and handset functionality could probably only be bettered at many times the cost.

    Excellent

    This is an excellent piece of kit. I now own 5 of these units allowing individual listeners to listen to different music in different, roooms or for everthing to be synchonised. I have also installed Duets on two motor yachts. Sadly the whole Squeezebox line is being discontinued by Logitech in favour of lower quality USB based music players. Mike Earl
