This Nikon TC-E15ED 420 mm f/4.2 lens is a telephoto converter for Nikon camera Coolpix models 8700 and 5700 using the UR-E8 adaptor and the Coolpix 5400 with the UR-E9 adaptor. Weighing 9.7 oz and measuring 2.4 x 2.9 inches, this 420 mm f/4.2 lens allows the cameras it's compatible with to produce images 1.5 times larger than normally possible without any distortion. This Nikon camera lens works as a telephoto adaptor, allowing the photographer to magnify an image with a smaller field of view to 1.5 times its standard size. This Nikon TC-E15ED's telephoto capability allows the photographer to conduct surveillance, photograph even the most skittish wildlife without disturbing it and capture brilliant images of sporting events. With this Nikon camera lens, the photographer can capture crisp, distortion-free images in the field without having to set up a tripod. This Nikon TC-E15ED can even capture clear images under normal lighting conditions with shutter speeds in the 1/90 of a second range.

    good image quality but inconvenient vignetting on Lumix FZ200

    On a Lumix FZ200, images are relatively sharp with few aberrations (particularly compared to Olympus TCON-17 and Ricoh TC-200M), but vignetted at relatively high zoom, compared to Canon TC-DC58A or Sony VCL-HGD1758. Consequently, unless one is prepared to frequently remove and reinstall it, a TC-E15ED limits useful zoom range and consequently opportunities for good pictures. A tele converter ideally should increase magnification without impacting useful zoom ratio..

    best of the best tele conversion lens

    + very low of distorsi + no have cromatic abrasion until zoom 1200mm in my sx50hs its absolutly defferent with chieve china product + very sharp colour + best of the best in conversion lens, only this teleconversion still in my dry box neather else have sold out - dificult to found adapter to using in DSLR lens - small size if us in big DSLR lens - screw ring is abnormal size about 47,5mm if you want to use in DSLR lens like 58mm or 62mm its dificult found stepdown 58-47,5 or 62 to 47,5

    good for bird photography

    This lens , only available second hand, works well with Panasonic DMC-FZ series of cameras using adapter DMW-LA5 and a 55-50 step-down ring (Peramaal), extending zoom by 50%. In good light it can be used without a tripod, and produces a 900 mm equivalent (36 times) zoom.

    Missing piece

    What I didn't know was it needed an adapter to fit my Nikon 8700. That fact wasn't in the description. Maybe the owner didn't know this or forgot to mention it. All the description mentioned was that it fit the 8700.
